Hey Radz, my daughter got me a Hot Wheels Camaro from the LA Auto Sbow for Christmas last year. She made her boyfriend wait in line for almost an hour for it. I guess it worked because he gained points with both of us.

Wheels are a factory installed option, right? Doesn't that mean that if you upgrade you keep the standard wheels as well? Just leave them in the garage and use the SSX for the racetrack and the polished wheels for prom night. And when you run out of rubber on one set...

Yeah, FJ, you get one or the other. Would be nice to have both, one set for daily driving, and on the other some really sticky stuff, but that would cost Ya. Those things are by no means cheap.

I believe reports say the SSX wheels are standard, and the chunkies are optional. I like your idea though!

Does any one know what the outter layer of the SSX wheels are made of?
I saw the rims at the Camaro National in Frederick maryland, and they looked like they were coated with something rather then painted on the
metal base.

I would imagine that the SSX rims would be easier to clean off the brake
dust then the polished rims over a long period of ownership.

I'm sure they are clearcoated, like pretty much all wheels from GM are. I think that's why despite them being a satin finish, they have slightly more sheen to them.

That would be a nice thought, but right now new rubber alone would be over $2,000.00. The polished ZL1 wheels over the GM counter would be at least $1,500.00 for the set. Iam hoping to see the car and wheels in person at the Miami Auto Show to get a better idea of which wheels to go with.
