Glad I got my car when I did. My favorite colors were, in order, IBM, RJT, CGM. I regularly get compliments on my color choice, and I think the IBM looks stunning. It was worth the fight to get it.

When the car I ordered got damaged, I thought about just waiting and getting a 2012, but I was afraid this would happen. Now that all three of my top color choices are gone, I'm very thankful that I grabbed mine up when I did.

GM is going to have to find an answer to this problem, though. Their color choices for 2012 are getting pretty limited. Plenty of people will be put off by the missing colors, and at least delay their purchase. I know I would have.

Well you don't have to spend $5k on a paint job unless you want to. On a brand new car that doesn't have any paint issues; especially one that's basically already undercoated with silver, you should be able to get a great looking blue, red, orange, charcoal gray or whatever color you wanted for around $2k. Granted that's not ideal; it would be ideal if GM had the full color palette available but due to "unforseen circumstances" they don't right now and I wouldn't let that hold me back from buying my car if I can build another $2k into the price and get it painted the color I really want.

Can't speak for everybody, but I'm not assuming replacements aren't coming. I'm just saying that it's slack for GM to delete colors without having replacements available. Yes, the tsunami was unpredictable but how hard is it to play around with colors and have a few Camaros painted in experimental colors with the paint that they can get access to. They could even show them to us and other enthusiasts and would be guaranteed a response one way or the other. The main problem is if the colors are going to be available for the full 2012 model year they should be announced and shown BEFORE, not after ordering is possible.

Its easy. We assume because they have already told us what colors will be available and what colors are not available.

i'm not surprised colors change, but IBM does surprise me. I see a lot of them. Crystal Red replaces RJT, i guess carbon flash will replace CGM, so i guess a different blue will replace IBM.

You can go to any paint shop and get any color you want including the discontinued colors ABM, IBM, and so on.
I know because I have checked with the paint stores that sell PPG.
The colors are available for one reason because you never know when one of those cars will be in a accident. They have to make the paint available for it.
A gallon of Aqua Blue Metallic with a Gallon of clear will set you back in a neighborhood of about $800 bux give or take. Its doable if you want to go to the trouble.

I'm just being overly pessimistic because they never replaced ABM with a 2nd blue and IBM was always too dark for me. But I'm about 40% afraid that they won't bring back another blue because IBM was the lowest volume color next to ABM initially.

I am sure they'll add more colors. The current 2012 pallet is rather anemic for a car with such high sales numbers. Who knows if it'll be another shade of red or black though instead of a blue. I'm sure they won't introduce a dark green either because it's not in style these days. Even though it may look very nice. I really hope they bring back a blue for 2012. I'm sure they will EVENTUALLY bring back a blue, but how soon, who knows.
