To use the same line I've used on countless subjects here, if GM doesn't, someone will.

Nope. GM never (as far as I can remember) had covers for any rear windows on the 1st Gen Camaros...and then again, there were no b-pillars...so, no seperate windows to cover. That, IMO, was a Mustang thing. In fact, I don't think I ever remember that on any Camaros.

Right, never, that was totally a Mustang thing...

Even in the new one..with a pillar, and all - I have my reservations that it would look any good....

Coupe: L x W x H = 186.2 x 79.1 x 53.47 (inches)
Coupe: Wheelbase = 112.47 inches

How sure are we of these facts?
I've very interested to see if the production car will hit 79.1 inches wide.

Take the coupe specifications and make these changes...
roofline - 12 mm higher
width - 1/2 inch narrower
wheelbase - 50mm longer.

I think this is right.

This a quote I got from Tag in the "Dimensions?" thread.

Thanks DGthe3!

that's interesting. I did some research and found...

If the new camaro is 78.6.....it's either got really wide mirrors or a pretty wide track.

I think its track, look at pictures showing it side by side with a '69 http://www.motoring.co.za/index.php?fArticleId=3386280, there are some on this site but this one was quicker to find

But seeing those comparison numbers, this is going to be an incredibly wide car. Should help with cornering stability. And the intimidation factor. It will have an awesome road presence

I was reading some Government standards white papers today on gas filler locations. and this made me think about the Filler location on the Camaro and the concept. The US Government standards for safety states that the filler must not allow vapors to escape during the filling process. Currently the filler that are located on the top of the fenders will not comply with federal standards in 2008. (Some Ozone Green house crap...)

The fuel intake device is provided that is mounted within a base portion of a vehicle and is pivotal from a closed position to an open position. While in the closed position, the fuel intake passage to the fuel tank is sealed. While in the open position, the fuel intake passage is able to receive fuel from a fuel nozzle. The fuel intake device can be combined with a condensation capture apparatus that provides multiple coils in communication with a fume tube. The coils are cooled during fueling by the fuel passing around them from their placement inside the fuel intake pipe and act to condense fuel fumes into fuel for return to the fuel tank as the fumes rise toward the fume tube. The fuel intake device can also include a pressurization and depressurization valve.

Ford designed a filler that will comply, will the Camaro use the same one ?

will there be a "ss" version and any chance of hideaways down the road? I had a 50th anniv. vette for awhile but was never happy with the bodystyle; if the new 'maro looks close to the pictures on the "photoshopped" site they won't be able to keep up with the demand;
