I used the larger template for all 4 of mine, and now that I have had them a week, several of my co-workers have seen me through "The Slalom", and commented they look symmetrical, and both inner and outer lights look the same, so I suspect there is no need to use the smaller template for outer lights.
I am really happy with the way this mod turned out, thanks to SabotAndHeat for dreaming this mod up! It's awesome!

I did this a couple months ago, and sealed my tail lights, or so I thought. Make sure after this mod is done for you guys you seal up the breach nice and tight, I had water in my tail lights, and now they fog over. They looked good until the water got in, good luck ladies and gentlemen!

@ Dissociation
Did you give it a pressure seal test by mouth to mouth? Once the silicone set I did exactly that and they held pressure with no air leaks. I've had no water in mine yet and they've been in over a year. |

Actually I did not, in hindsight that may have been a good idea! As of now my left most tail light needs to be replaced due to water damage.

Ill take a picture, but the housing seems to have fogged over, I attempted to dry it out by leaving it out for a couple hours, and even trying to use a hair dryer to accelerate the process. Not sure what is wrong with it, possibly the bulb

Sounds like you have moisture in there, I would open it up and use either a heat gun or hair dryer blowing into it for a good min or so once you don't see the haze anymore. Then you must immediately seal it back up once you cut off the gun/dryer.
