And yes, that's full coverage with $500 deductibles...

Wow! I've got a great deal - I pay about $62 a month for TWO cars, my 2010 Camaro RS, AND a VW Jetta w/ liability only. I don't even carry state minimums, I carry ABOVE the minimums! I've even got low deductibles, $100 for collision!

I hate this argument. I more than tripled in HP when I went from my Pontiac g5 gt to my ZL1 at age 21, and the power is more than manageable

It's a different story when you have things planned out and able to keep a sustainable life style. Personally, spending 6 month income on a car is the absolute upper limit for me, but I can see older people that's really into cars with more stable job willing to spend more. I remember on BMW forums the guy with the least income out of all the 7 series owners only makes $60k a year. That car has about the same total cost as OP here if you factor in the insane insurance cost,(and other people there treat him like he's insane) now imagine that BMW guy owned a 7 series without a job......

4k a year is a normal price for 18 y/o, I just don't like that people bitch around saying that he acts not responsibly.

Back on post #1 topic:
With a horrible driving record I pay $1,190 for 6 months, max/full coverage on 2 late model cars. Not the best rates but not $4,000+ a year for one car.
I dunno what's up with your rates.

Hmmm...... 5 years difference on the V6 and V8 for him is $9000 x 5 = $45000.
Driving the V6 alone isn't the problem, but trying to go SS with 0 income is.
How about drive a PoS until he's 25 then buy a corvette? A 25 year old buying a corvette, just by not getting anally abused by insurance companies
The difference on the car running cost alone would be more than the total cost of a brand new Z06
Plus at 25 with a job, a corvette insurance won't even be over 2000.

It's his money, he can spend however he likes. On the other hand people can say whatever they think of him. Freedom is wonderful isn't it?

I pay 62 a month with my 1LT, agent said that the SS wasn't too much more if I ever decided to upgrade.
