I do a lot of city driving, and we are talking Los Angeles traffic. All my cars have manuals. With a big V8, you don't have to shift all that much, because there is so much torque. I like the manual, because it gives me something to do while sitting in traffic. Otherwise, I am bored to death.

I would ask yourself the following questions:

Do you like to challenge yourself, and learn new things? If yes, manual.

Do you like to get engage with the car and driving? If yes, manual.

Is being able to control the sound of the engine important to you? If yes, manaul.

Do you like to just cruise, and have a car take you places with minimal effort? If yes, automatic.

I wouldn't worry about being good at driving a manaul. It just takes practice, and that's half the fun.

My first Camaro was an auto v6, I needed auto for school. My ZL1 is not my dd and hence the Manual, I have never regretted it. Plus all the guys at the carmeets always ask is it a stick and I say YUP!! The guy with the auto Challenger gets laughed at sometimes.

Are you basing this on your car's freakish results or have you witnessed the same in multiple 13's now?

I had a auto 4th gen and HATED it! Picked up a M6 and had that car for 5 years! I drive my car daily and I will never own a auto Camaro or vette unless it was a classic. I love shifting gears and not having a computer tell me how to drive!

Manual, even though I don't know how to drive a manual I still regret getting an auto sometimes.

as you can already see its purely an opinon thing,
the auto is faster at least in a 1/4 mile situation also it provides much more consistent runs, the manual would probably pull away at higher speeds, sometimes i find myself wishing i was driving a manual but at the end of the day i wouldnt want to trade my automatic for a manual, and 26hp definitely wont be the thing that makes me change my mind, i had a cobalt ss modded to 260 whp 300wtq and that was standard i just ended up getting bored of the manual thing, it has its appeal at times but not enough for it to be worth it

If you want to drive an automatic buy a Cruze. Isn't the manual trans part of what make the camaro a sports car?

Amen Brother bumper to bumper really sucks with manual. Then again manual is fun and to some the opinion is that a true sports car should be a manual. But it really all comes down to your own situation and personal choice.

While I wish I purchased a manual, I don't agree with your logic. So my manual Honda civic I had in 02 (no mods, not into civic except for mpg) is more sporty than my auto ss convertible? Fun to drive, Imo, does not equal sporty. Performance does.
