This thread was talking about common sense with respect to the police and the law.... The comments were that the move over law is a common sense law to move over to avoid endangering lives.

It just reminded me that sometimes, even the police don't always use common sense when it comes to safety.

Thanks to all you courteous drivers...we all know sense isn't always so "common"

I hate conducting traffic stops on busy roads, just one of those inherited risks with the job.

Like mentioned before, we should move for anyone thats roadside!!!

this thread isn't really a "cop groupie" thread as much as it is a "respect for the safety of other human beings" thread, whether that person on the side of the road be a LEO, fire fighter, EMT, tow truck driver, stranded motorist, etc. It's also a way to keep yourself safe because if you hit something/someone on the side of the road, your own vehicle is gonna get damaged as well. Just didn't think this was the kinda place where it seemed appropriate to tell a "this one time this one guy did this one thing" story from "years ago" you're still harboring some kind of grudge over. just because two subjects have some loose association with one another doesn't necessarily make it an appropriate time and place to tell it.
