I agree, I wouldn't store my Camaro I love driving it in any weather, even snow. I put 4 snow tires on it and it drives great.

Although I can surely afford to have a DD I choose to drive my Z every day. I suffer from work-aholism so while I mostly only get to drive it from home to work & back it's those 20 minutes of fun that I live for every day. There's no real right or wrong way to treat your car, as it is YOUR car & your decision to do with it what you please.

I appreciate the list (as well as the inclusiveness)
Quote:
1. Neither do I, it's a boring kind of chore so I don't. Just often enough on each of 4 cars for them to not look too bad. I'd really rather spend the time driving them anyway, which only starts to get them dirty all over again. 2. I think this is what OP is getting at. It assumes that the reason for buying it was to enjoy driving it. Maybe that's not everybody's reason, but it's mine too. 3. Except for not having enough garage space anyway, YES. 4. More efficient, yes. But not nearly as much fun if you've got an unplowed parking lot nearby. Us, we've got a turbo 6-speed MT AWD Subaru and it's all but impossible to make it do a donut. Totally impossible to handbrake it around. ![]() 5. Learn how to drive safely in wet conditions. Seriously, this can be done. Autocrossing in the rain is a hoot. 6. I guess, if resale value is something that matters. But beyond some point, further avoidance of use gains no value and costs you seat time in that car that you presumably bought because you really wanted to drive it. 7. I suppose. But even a 2014 will lose that new car smell given a little time. Norm |

I probably drove my 2010 SS more than 95% of those on this forum or any owner for that matter with over 60,000 miles in three years but I hat leaving the car outside for two reasons. 1, the f***ing sprinklers with well water that stains the car and 2) the f***ing tree to developer put over the driveway that leaves yellow stains all over my car. I hate washing my car every week so now that my wife's TT convertible is gone the garage is the permanent home for my 2014 1LE, and believe me with the new wrapped hood I would lose my mind fighting those damned sprinklers and tree pollen.

Really? That is weird because I thought they were pretty good considering the width of the tires, have you always had 245+ size tires or is this the first time in awhile? Skinnier tires help against hydroplaning because they cut through the water. Living in south Florida, the thunderstorm capital of the world, I drive in torrential downpours on a near daily basis in the summer with no problems with the PZeros. Maybe I'm uesd to it with all the rain we see here and becaues I have had sports cars with wide tires since I was a teen. I was very concerned about the Goodyears on my 1LE, but they did good so far but by this summer the treads will be gone so it will be totally different I'm afraid...time will tell.

These are definitely the widest tires I've ever had on a vehicle.

My car's OE BFG KDWS in 235/50 get so touchy about wet cornering even in 4th gear that I can't even breathe on the throttle until I'm completely out of the corner and going straight. Been that way since brand-new. The 3-season GY Asymmetrics in 255/45 that I now have can be driven through the same turns up to almost moderate throttle in 3rd gear, and at a slightly higher speed to boot - and they'll still have more cushion against the tail trying to run wide. Feels almost like being on dry pavement by comparison to the way the narrow OE tires behave and feel. Norm Last edited by Norm Peterson; 01-07-2014 at 11:28 AM. |

It's funny ..the guys that drive in the snow all the time don't mention driving in the rain...if driving in the rain is hazardous for you then slow down. I really never thought of driving in the rain as being tricky.
