I saw a couple of new V6 mustangs with 17995 in the window, along with 13995 for F-150s, I guess ford is tryin to sell them for only double what they are worth...am I being too generous? The prices were 'advertised' though. I am sure they were bare bones cars.... I went to the Chevy dealer down the road, they also had some bargains---reg cab Z71 v8 4x4 for 19995 with a/c, auto, and remote start etc.

the point: prices do not have to be $30000+ for a v8 Camaro

in Hobbs, New Mexico by the way

Yes there is.

You seem to be overlooking the main fact that no matter what engine GM shoves into this baby - it MUST be priced somewhere near the Mustang.(i.e. within 1k-1.5k) Otherwise it will not appeal, and it will die right out of the gate. It's supposed to be an affordable car. What you describe is far from affordable, imo...

$20k to $36k thats Camaro.

$40k+ thats Corvette.

$40k + ADM (for a Mustang?) thats Shelby.

Please don't "Shelby" the Camaro.
I really don't know what kind of corvette you guys are buying for 40k.

I have yet to see a Vette roll off a lot under 55-60K. I can see a S/C 530-550 hp raking in 42-45k. I dont believe there are many other's at 530+ hp rolling off on any other lot. Hell, this new shelby is off on 80,000 so I don't see GM "Shelby"ing the camaro....

Chevy in my opinion will charge $26,800 for the V6 and the LS3 will be $35,000 at least. I know the SS Supercharged will be out of reach, it'll be at least $44,000. We can ony pray prices will be cheaper. The 3.6 liter V6 Cadillac CTS starts at $33,990. Do we really believe Chevy can make the V6 Camaro for $14,000 less??? Cadillac CTS-V starts at $51,425, can they make the Camaro SS $14,000 less than that???
35,000? Granted, I believe the car is WORTH 35k. Problem is, the "promise" was made to be in the mustang range, correct? Regardless of other GM vehicles (cady or G8), THOSE vehicles aren't in competition with the challenger and mustang. If the sticker is 35,000 base or possibly even loaded for the LS3 then it wont sell...period. We may not see it below 29K, but it wont be 35 unless you are buying a vert.

Brand New 2008 Corvette Coupe $42,998 w/3.99%apr for 60 months
Dealers that "Deal" can get you one for 40k.

Again just for fun based on the comments from GM employees, Kelley Blue Book, and Ford pricing,
MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price)
Camaro V6 starting at: $23,175
Camaro V8 starting at: $29,715

Chevrolet Dealers and GM will offer the usual discounts and incentives off of these prices when volume hits the lots.

2008 V6 Mustangs can be picked up right now for $18,550 here in California.
2008 Shelby GT500 can be found for $44,425, if you know the right dealer.

-=Welcome to Fantasy Land=-
Using Ford's Mustang GT Premium: MSRP $28,215 + $15,999.00 for the Shelby motor = $44214 (close to MSRP).
You can get the motor from here: http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=9560

Same exercise with Camaro using really ballpark figures: Camaro V8 starting at: $29,715 + $12,999.00 for an LS7 = $42,714.00 (No LSA yet sorry)

Of course this was all in fun, nobody knows the LSA price yet, and Ford's SVT pricing makes the Corvette look like the deal of a lifetime!
