I think once we ALL see it in person, we are going to change our minds about minor things such as content packages...

One only needs to look at the 4th Gen Camaro following to know how big the aftermarket is going to be and how awesome the new Camaro will be.

I, for one, don't care about my HUD or HIDs while my LS3 is revving towards redline. All I care about is that next shift...
You make a very valid argument, but I do agree and disagree. This may be the last V8 many of us purchase, and I don't think some people should be looked down upon for wanting it perfect top to bottom, inside and out. Did GM not say the new corvette will be the most powerful they will ever make? I think the big wigs are realizing the market for the V8 is starting to dwindle. As much as I HATE THAT, and feel the liberals are creating an unrealistic craze.. I can also see that the market is indeed adapting. Obviously we don't know what the future holds for us as far as energy is concerned..but I am also fully aware that this MIGHT just be the last V8 sports car I buy, so if it I nit pick about options and them being available at launch...I think it is warranted. Again, I love this car..I love the look and the performance we have been given at (what we have been told will be) reasonable price. So again, I am not here to banish this car, or convert anyone. I will still buy this car, I guess with the videos and specs seen I put an image in my head of what the perfect camaro would look like...don't tell me you guys haven't?!..and if it doesn't fit that mold, yea, thats going to throw you off your game.

Amen...my theory is if you need parking assist you don't need to be driving a camaro, haha

I live in Miami, Florida and definitely don't want leather. However I do want the internal lighting option and Halo's. I sure hope by then that I can order the internal lighting with cloth seats....

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I think CamaroScotty has already confirmed that the ambient lighting package is only available with, and included in, the leather package.

Well, if you tell me that base price, I'd gladly answer this question.

Hey, I can wish.
This is good to know.. So the 21 inch wheels are a difference in price from the 20's.. I'm definitely getting 21 inchers.. Lets hope the dealers don't screw us over on this one and say it is extra and they keep the 20's...

Period.

I don't like it.

You don't like it.

But if you want cars (and trucks) to be reasonably priced, this is how it will be.

We offered over 15 million build combinations in the 1997 model year on a Camaro -- to build less than 75 thousand cars.

The result -- a horrible number of part numbers to build cars that sat on dealer lots (Wait -- this car has power windows and door locks -- why doesn't it have cruise control!!?!?!?!?).....

To get the cost out of the car -- and to simplify build -- and to reduce piece costs --- we have to package things. (you think the Camaro's bad? Go look at how Honda packages their cars!)....

So - you want halo lights but don't want the 20 inch wheels? I think you can find lots of takers for the 20 inch wheels when you decide to put custom wheels on the car -- and if you order 21 inch wheels from GM, the dealer will give you credit for the 20s.........

I understand your frustration -- but I don't ever see any manufacturer getting away from this.

Let me ask you this: Would you be willing to make a decision to increase the base price of the car by over $500 to $1,000 in order to allow everyone to free-flow their options????
At the very least for people ordering, there should be a leather and cloth RS package priced slightly different with the cloth being $1,000 less for example. it would make the RS package a little more affordable for those that don't want leather because we live in a hot climate... I live in Miami, Florida by the way...

Calm down people.....if they build 80-100k Camaros, there are going to be a lot of wrecked ones for parts. Order what you have to and swap it out with parts from other cars. BTW....I think this forum needs a classifieds section just for the 5th Gen so when people start getting thier cars they can swap wheels, leather seats etc.

The way I understand it, you will be able to get the RS package without leather. There is the LS (cloth, no fog lights, steel wheels), RS package may not be available on the LS, 1LT (cloth, with fog lights and aluminum wheels) and then 2LT (1LT plus leather, ambient lighting), and I'm sure you can get the RS package on either LT trim.

The SS follows the LT trims (1SS, 2SS)

I could be wrong on how that is, so if I am anyone who knows for sure may correct me.

Don't the seats usually just bolt down? That would be one of the easiest items to sell off to someone else and get your own cloth seats (recaros!)

Not on modern cars.... yes they "just bold down", but you will have the side airbags and passenger seat sensor that you have to worry about.

Unless you don't mind the constant "check airbags", and "passenger airbag off" reminding you in the DIC.

That's just electronics. This is child's play to get taken care of. It's not major surgery like changing the bumpers or body panels. People should be thankful that their pet peeves with the car are so easily fixed.

I can't undersdtand how HUD is a deal breaker for anyone. It's pretty much useless and annoying IMO when you have a DIC between the gauges.

My only beef about the options packages is the lack of a rear deck spoiler on the LS & LT models.I don't want to have to purchase the RS package ,just to get a rear spoiler? Being on a budjet that i am,it aggrivates me how auto manufacturers seem to widen the avaliability of certain options from base model(very few if any options)to every option avaliable. It's like you have the option of nothing,or everything(slightly exagerated) The point being is if i want to stay in my budget LS or LT,to have a rear spoiler on my new camaro i am going to have to purchase a decklid with the holes already drilled from GM parts...cost about $300-400,the spoiler $100-150,then have a body shop paint the spoiler and deck lid for $350 and install it $40 and hope i can sell the decklid on Ebay to recover some of my cost.

So i'm looking at close to $1,000 to have a spoiler on my new LS or LT Camaro,or spent $2,000-3,000 for the RS package to have my spoiler and 4 wheels that i'm gonna end up replacing anyway

Some may say, what's the big deal about having a spoiler?Well to me it adds a sportier appearance to the car and is much more attractive having one on the car than not having one.IMHO

I have also been looking at the Challenger SE model, and sure enough,Dodge doesn't offer a rear spoiler on the SE model, but if i want one, guess what,I have to spend another $8,000 to get the R/T Challenger with the gas guzzling 5.7 hemi.

It is still might be possible that you can purchase just the spoiler from the dealer (I could on my Cobalt, for instance). So keep that in mind; we don't know any of those details just yet. If not...you will probably want to look into GM accessories. You can go through the accessories list, and pick one out of there.

They haven't told us everything, yet...so don't worry too much.
