althought, i think the RS package is pretty nice, i decided to with an LS and do the mods for myself. I got a new spoiler (OEM), Halos, HIDs, new rims for under a grand so to me it was worth it. Also, the aftermarket choices allowed me to make my Camaro my own. Of course, it would have been much easier to just get the RS package but in the end, it was worth it.

2) halos rock -- agreed, I do like the look of them and I haven't even seen how they work in the dark yet
3) fog lights not needed with HID's -- understood, honestly I never use the fog lights on my cars that have them anyway, but I saw a post somewhere that mentioned this as a problem in the snow
4) the summer tires are OK in the rain -- I did not realize that before, and I would be getting winter snow tires regardless so the 20" wheels are good
5) the do-it-myself option sounds good, but not practical for me because I have neither a garage nor the spare time
6) body color roof ditch molding is noticeable

So I think I'm being swayed back toward the RS! budget may be the final deciding factor . . .

thanks much . . . still open for more comments!
I personally never really liked the RS package, mostly because of #6 I saw a car on my dealers lot and saw the roof ditch molding the same color as the body and honestly... it looked awful. I like the contrast of the stock car. About the only thing I'm wishing I got on my car was the HUD, the 4-Gauge Pack, and the Interior Trim on the Dash/Door Panels. I'll be getting all except the HUD put on my car soon so I'm happy

It really makes the car, especially if its a V6. Its also actually pretty good value for your money. A similar set up if you try to do it yourself will run you almost the same cost and you wont get warranty of OEM quality/durability.

RS packageis a big waste of money. Here is why. I did a HID retrofit so I have projector headlights that far surpass the RS lights for under 400. I got a spoiler for free off this forum. My dealer threw in RS wheels when I bought the car. And the ditch molding can be painted for 70 bucks or under. I wouldnt waste my money. Thats why I got a LS. Its way cheaper to DIY.

Just list all of the items you get with an RS package. Line up their price points. For only $1200? Totally worth every penny the rims and tires alone from the RS package cost more than 1200. If you want an aftermarket wheel/tire upgrade you can sell the RS wheels/tires and basically use the money towards the upgrades.

Basically you get a lot of goodies that are worth more than $1200 for only $1200. Makes sense to me.

Your headlights have no warranty and less durability than OEM and imo no aftermarket headlight looks better than the stock ones, GM got them right 100%.

99/100 people arent getting a $200 spoiler for free, or RS wheel. You got lucky. Had you not got all that free stuff you wouldnt consider it a waste of money.

They arent any less durable. How could you think they are less durable?? They way outperfom the RS lights. Light throw, width, and color. Cleaner cutoff as well. And if you deal with a dealer you can get things thrown in. You just gotta know how to deal. And when you retro you can make them look any way you want. I wish my halos where a bit bigger so Ill pull them apart and install different ones. And I have a 5 year warranty on my lights.
