My only bummer with the Camaro is that I raced my wife with our 2006 Impala SS and they were pretty close up to 100. The Camaro started to pull away, but not by much. I guess that is where a CAI and pipes are needed!
I'm 6'2" and have no problems getting in and out of my car.

Camaro driver (long story on my order)...Corvette owner ('09 GT1 vert). I've owed as many f-bodies as I have Corvettes and I can tell you that year to year ('09-'09) there is no comparison between the two. Comparing the Camaro to the Corvette is not as bad as comparing my past Trailblazer SS to a Vette...but you get the idea.

I bought the TBSS because I need four seats and the fbody was no more...I would have done the same with the Camaro. Yes it has the same engine, but the comparison stops there realistically. If you have the cash for a vette...and you don't need four seats, there really isn't a reason to consider the Camaro.

The Camaro is an incredible car...I still love it and will probably eventually add one to the garage. For now it is two 2-seat cars, my mundane 4 seater... and all my projects (three vehicles in some state of rework can make for some interesting discussions!). Would I trade our Vette for a Camaro...not even for one of the tuner cars. They just aren't the same class...as has been said before.

Drive both the Vette and the Camaro at 155MPH and then see which one provides you with "confidence" at high speed...

The great part is you can get vettes under invoice - $1000 or more......so those that want Vettes, the savings now is insane!

They each serve a purpose and a different market segment. There are pros and cons to each and it just depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. Both are beautiful, well designed and built vehicles with enough options and choices to satisfy a broad range of customers.

Has the Camaro kept people from buying Corvettes? No, the economy has kept people from buying cars in general. The Camaro HAS kept people from buying those things Ford is making...

I have to add that the corvette has the transmission placed in the rear of the vehicle to even out the weight distribution. This is a rare feature only found on ultra high end supercars.

I think it's funny that a significant voice from inside GM can come on here and say "the Camaro has probably taken away some of our Corvette sales," and people will still go on saying it could never happen.

Sorry, that distressed me. The Impala is quick, but more like a mid-6 second car...

The Camaro has 1500 miles and I have used Premium from the start. Also did the Fuse Pull....Both are stock too. Ideas?

Both were automatics that I drove (and the Vette was non-Z51)...but they felt remarkably similar to each other minus the Corvette's "ferocity" of power-delivery, and the Camaro's higher comfort level. I was just re-reading that 2SS review I posted up last fall.

Granted...I never did get either of them above 4500rpms. I imagine I wouldn't want to on a packed highway, either. Both border that "stupid-fast" line real close.........

Provided the $20,000 savings, two more seats and "close-enough-to-justify it" performance difference...I can see how a few folks may have gotten a Camaro instead of a Vette.

None whatsoever...that's really strange. A V6 Camaro could beat an Impala SS. The Camaro SS should blow its doors off.

When I bought my vette in September, there was a beautiful REd Jewel sitting there with ground effects, stripes, 6 speed and fully loaded. It was 38500 and there was zero discount. Next to it was a silver 09 1lt coupe 6 speed with forged wheels priced at 39500. I really like the new camaro, and I've driven it a few times, but you really need to drive a corvette to really understand the difference. The ls3 in the camaro is pretty fast, bu the ls3 in the vette is a beast. I had an 04 z06 and the ls3 pulls as hard as my z06 did. Had the camaro been 32,000 or 33,000, I would have bought it, but 1000 bucks, it was a no brainer.
