Here we go again, the 285 HP in my '97 Z28, 3:23 gears A4, will spank the new 304 V6's bone stock. Frankly I've driven some 4th Gen SS's that I think can give the 5th gen ss's a good run for their money. Don't get me wrong the new ones are nice, but the best of the 4th gen's were pretty quick and not just for their place in time. I understand if yu pay 38k for a new sports car you want it to be quicker than an older previous version costing way less, but remember the faster you go, the more power it takes to make a difference. And then there is the whole issure of putting that HP to the ground.

It's the whole package, not just the HP.[/QUOTE]

You sir are off your rocker.. I've driven a base model 10' V6 and was SURPRISINGLY surprised to say the least. I drive an 08 RWD TBSS that holds the record for fasted head/cam only RWD TBSS and runs 11.7 on a bad day... The run between a 4th gen ss and a 5th gen ss COULD be close but the 5th gen SHOULD pull away EVERYTIME.

Not taking away from the 4th gens at all because look at how long it took Ford to come close to them, but they just aren't up to par with the 5th gens in looks, performance, or overall comfort IMO.

Oh and just to remind everyone, GM beat Ford to "ecoboost" by several years. The 2.0 LNF is for all intents and purposes only lacking the marketing campaign. It is a turbocharged SIDI engine which despite Ford's marketing campaign, all that ecoboost entails.

You're going to get the Ford guys all riled up again.

The truth hurts.

But it sometimes works both ways...GM hasn't seemed to catch on that phony marketing is half the battle. Ford slapped turbos on a direct injected engine...whoop-de-doo. But it's EcoBoost....so now it's "whooooooo".

They did the same thing with the infotainment systems by calling it MyFord touch and Sync. Now I think toyota's even taking a crack at it.

GM has these systems in use already...but they aren't named anything silly so they're left unnoticed.

The above is just one enthusiast's opinion.
