Let's put it this way, if I caught the coward the painter would have to wear gloves to remove the blood stains on the car . I wouldn't kill em' but they would wish they were dead. That assault and battery thing.. I'll pay the fine and then lay the same amount on the Judges bench and tell them to keep it in reserve. Next time I see the idiot I am going to beat them again. It makes me angry and it isn't even my car.

I hate seeing pictures like that. Makes me sick. Sorry this happened to you. Something like that is the main reason my car rarely leaves the garage. When I do take it out it never leaves my sight.

Pay the fine? You think it ends there? When you shoot someone, be prepared to get sued. The widow, mother, son, whoever, will feel grief of some sort. That grief may add up to you paying a million bucks (including your beloved Camaro). This is America...lots of lawyers all looking for victims, inventing them, even.

"Manuel was such a nice man. All he did was key a car and now he's dead!".

Jury cries, case closed, you pay.

Its not about criminal law (state of Texas has you covered on that one), its about civil law. Your assets and income in the hands of a weepy jury.

You still think its worth shooting someone over vandalism now? Maybe a few shots in the air would do the trick. Less messy and you don't get sued.

I'm fairly certain if you shoot and kill someone in a "Castle Law" situation you are given immunity from any civil lawsuits. At least, that's my understanding of how it is in Texas.

This right here is the crux of the problem. We've been spoon fed modern psychology's perspective for 40 years that people are basically good, so whatever they do that's bad, isn't their fault. It must be their parents, society, racism, or one of the multitude of manufactured "illnesses" like ADHD. Therefore, they're not responsible, and can't be held accountable.

Until we return to the days when people were responsible for their actions (and we won't), this type of behavior will continue.

Most people talk big when it comes to killing someone but try to live with a 16 yr old's death because you blew him away for marking up your car.

The only time I would use deadly force is if a stranger came into my house uninvited and I reasonably believed my family or myself was in imminent danger.

Damn straight. It's my property, I worked hard for it.

And if its a kid, his parents are legally responsible for any damage to my property. If my property was in any way damaged, I'd have them served at the funeral.

First let me say I am very sorry to hear your story. Makes me mad..
I agree... act of jealousy
Texas law...........

$11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare ALONE to illegal aliens each year by state governments.
For a total cost over $200 Billion each year we spend on illegal aliens. I Don't want to list all the other costs here, it's not the place.

If we just gave all the illegals a New Camaro or another car of their choice every 2 or 3 yrs. this stuff may not happen....

I'm afraid, I'm very afraid that so many of you are so quick to grab your gun and kill and ask questions later. Yes, most kids that commit crimes weather it be keying a car or stealing a car are heading for more henious crimes, but definitely not all or them. I can attest to that first hand. I have known some people that have done criminal mischief and absolutely they need to be punished and punished severely so they will not go down that road, but come on people killing someone for some petty crime isn't that a little much. I have seen these people turn their lives around and become productive members of society, but I guess they would have had the chance in Texas. You don't know the person's situation when you pull the trigger to play God and end this kid or whomever's life, And why are so many members flaming me for trying to be understanding to someone's situation, not one supporter! Most of you guys flaming me think I'm some sort of push over that's going to let the kid walk, no if he does the crime he should pay the price, but this price needs to fit the crime. It's not like I'm some sort of anti-gun advocate or afraid to pull a trigger, I killed two deer last year, but an animal is not a human life that deserves a fair trial before being executed. If your family is in peril than yes by all means protect them, but your freaking car give me a break. Let insurance pay for the scratch and the police and the justice system take care of the punishment. I don't think there's the death penalty in Texas for keying a car or even stealing a car for that matter! And Dirtdog, I'm sorry about taking over your thread, I sure didn't want to and they really does suck about your car, I feel for ya.

Okay, okay, I won't shoot 'em. Can I throw my knife at them?

You really think we're all advocating shooting someone that keys a car?

If they're stealing my rims, though, that's another story. The kind of individual that has enough foresight to bring the right equipment to steal my rims is obviously not your common "kid causing mischief." This kind of behavior does not show a desire to be a productive member of society, and if it's being done at night you better believe I would confront the person, and if they made any kind of threatening gesture, they're going down.

Anyone who has ever owned a gun (as well as those that have common sense) knows you can't just go around shooting people willy-nilly because they wronged you. You should only ever draw your concealed handgun if you feel as though your life is truly threatened. The law is more lenient at nighttime simply because of visibility. At night, how do you know the guy wearing all black clothing holding that tire iron doesn't have a firearm tucked into his waistband? "Castle Law" situations are always the worst possible scenarios.

Some of these posts seem to be lumping all criminals into the same basket, whether they're experienced chop-shop experts or idiots that can't keep their door from swinging too wide and dinging your fender.

I'm giving up on this thread.

OP, I hope it gets fixed like new. I hate seeing another Camaro all scratched up because some loser has no respect for other people's property. Post some photos when it gets all fixed up
