Imminent death for criminal mischief does sound a little stiff of a penalty. However since the existing laws do not seem to be working, I am all for a change. Maybe if the the hoodlums that did the act had to crawl over their dead friends body while trying to get away from the next shotgun blast, maybe next time they might decide to stay at home and watch TV instead of going out and committing criminal acts. Just a thought...

I haven't worked all my life just so others can walk away with the things that I worked for. A dead thief is a good thief

Never under-estimate the malicious capabilities of young people. The moment you think "They're just kids, they can't really do any real damage," is the moment one of those "kids" may spread your brains all over the floor or rape and kill your family. Gets especially worse when there's a group and alcohol involved. Seemingly awesome kids have fallen easily into that "hive mind" mentality and done some crazy stuff. Treat criminals and never-do-wells equally. You should treat them the same as if they were any other adult.

I guess what I'm trying to say with this long message is to never underestimate your adversary based on such baseless things such as age, sex, or apparent physical/mental limitations/handicaps. You're going to be in for a world of hurt if you do.

That sucks. I'm fortunate enough to not get one yet (although I have gotten some door dings) but I'm still on the search for some side cameras that can record the view from the side mirrors, straight to the rear bumper just as a precaution. If anyone has seen the key'd hummer video that was recorded, that's what I'm talking about.

God bless Texas!

On the other hand, OP I have to ask, do you have a large population of "illegals" in your area? Just because I live in MA where Boston has "boycotted" Arizona because of it, doesn't mean I support such action...I'm sorry for you; I hope they can do a good job matching up your paint.

I am in law enforcement and agree. There are too many people who believe that these kids don't really mean to do bad things. Or do bad things because they were yelled at or came from a poor family. These kids soak these attitudes up while laughing at the bleeding hearts who offer the attitudes and a system that believes they deserve break after break after break..

I came from a less fortunate family and was yelled at. I turned out OK. I was afraid of my parents. Kids these days arent afraid of their parents and the system because people keep shoving crap down their throats that because of their upbringing or their "position in life" its not their fault.

Why is it as a society we don't want to hold people responsible for their actions anymore ?

Sorry Long day protecting nice people like you from knobs like the guy(s) that did this and system that believes you as a victim have less rights that the a$$ who made you a victim

Rant over......

Just my $.02. I am tired of our "it is not their fault" society! Barretta said it best "You do the crime, you do the time".

i got a story......
i was driving a brand new mercedes gl450 and i stopped at the stop sign well obviously i have to try and merge in, well so i move up slowly and a bum on a bike crosses the walk and says **** you this and that while im at the stop sign...so i let it slide, but then i make my right and there he is drunk in front of me moving at 2 mph, so obviously i honk he moves over and when i pass him he kicks my cars gas cap.....Well i'm in the car with 4 buddys at first im look stay cool guys but then he starts callin my friend out, and we all see people taking are license plate number down, but eventually i got out and started cussing at him and calling him out because thats what he was doing and it irritated me, what right do you have to touch someone elses property..I chased him and he ran off like a lill *****....In a way im glad i didn;t catch him. But my point is people are jeaoulus bastards, who hate you for what you have. And in my case whats a bum got to loose hell go to jail and get a home and food......I guess he will get his punishment later on, even though i'd still wanna fck em up.......sorry for my language but this should be a rated R thread....

To the OP, I'm in agreement with most. Where I grew up, if you did something dumb and got caught, you faced at least 2 ass whippings. one from the person who caught you and one from your dad.

There used to be some kids running around roping mailboxes from the back of a pick up and snatching them out of the ground.
Most of us thought we knew who was doing it but couldn't catch them.

After losing 2 mailboxes my Uncle Brent sunk a piece of drill pipe 15' deep and concreted it in for his next one.
A few days later there was a broken rope on it and one of the Stouffer boys showed up to school the same day with an "unexplained" broken arm.
Later that night my Uncle went and spoke with their dad, and for the next 2 months the Stouffer boys were walking back and forth to school because the truck got taken away.
They also limped the first few days, probably from the ass kicking they got from their dad.

Guess what? No mailboxes got molested after that.
Unfortunately the problem with todays society is no one has to face consequences for their actions.

IMO vote with your feet. If like CC laws or Castle Doctrine laws move to a state that supports them, there's several including Texas and I imagine more to come, or work hard to have them passed in your state.

However, if you want to live where your only form of self defense is to pick up the phone and call 911 and pray the police can make it? Move to D.C., Chicago or California.
well said, couldn't have said it better.
