I would also recommend putting anti-squeal grease on the back of the brake pads.

2011 SS/RS here, been squeaky ever since I got it. I have 12000km on her about 7500 miles). The squeaking is unpredictable but it only happens on light/slow stops. I drove a Cobalt SS Turbo before with Brembo brakes and they NEVER squealed. Weird, I am going to go speak with my dealer about the TSB and see if they will replace the brakes. No Lemon law up here in Canada, only small claims court.

Hello! I have a 2013 2SS Camaro with 12,000 miles on it and my brakes just started to squeal. The other thing I noticed is I can hear a chirping / squealing noise on the passenger side when the windows are down. The only thing that gets rid of it is applying the brake. I took it to the dealer and of course, it did not do it when we did a test ride.
I called GM and they have it on record. Anybody else hear the squealing / chirping when not using the brake?
I'm taking it in again when I need an oil change and I am going to have them keep the car for a few days.

My brakes are silent. Never have squealed once. Car has about 8k miles on it now. And if you name something you aren't supposed to do, well... I've done it. Probably more than once.

Rule of thumb for new brakes: for the first 100 miles brake lightly unless it's an emergency stop. This helps.

Also when washing car, spay water as much onto pads and rotors to remove brake dust buildup

Both works for me all the time and do u tube to confirm the 1st theory.

Thanks again for all the input.
I took it for an oil change and filter today, and had them clean the brakes and apply anti-squeal spray to them. I'll see what happens.

Just a quick update:
After I brought my car in for service, the brakes ended up squeaking and squealing again. I took it back to the dealer and the service manager took a ride with me. He confirmed the squeaking. He ordered me new rear brake pads since he thought it was coming from the rear.
After they installed the rear brake pads and took it for a test ride, the mechanic heard squeaking from the front brakes. They ordered and installed new front brake pads as well.
FYI - my car has 12,500 miles on it and it is 2 years old.
If your brakes are squeaking and squealing and the brake pads and rotors are fine, don't just ignore it. GM needs to know these Brembo brake pads are noisy. The cost of the brakes and labor was covered by GM. I'm thankful the dealer fought for me not to pay anything.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this thread. My '15 has just over 2,400 miles on it and has been squealing like a stuck pig with pretty much any braking at speeds below 35. I was hoping I just hadn't reached the break in period, but seeing how many of you have this issue even at 10k, 12k, +miles isn't a good sign.
When you drive a car that turns heads, you don't it squealing while they look! Embarrassing!

If it's still doing it this coming Spring, she's going to the shop.

After reading everyone's problems it makes me feel so much better knowing I wasn't crazy thinking it was only me. I'm brining this post back to life lol I have a 2011 M6 SS I got certified used. I never had the problem for the first 2 years. But about 6 months ago it started squealing worse than a pig. So I changed front and rear from stock to Hawk's Ferro-Carbon pads thinking it'll go away. Well It did for a bit then came right back. Mainly does it mid to later day never mornings, and also noticed it always does it on light braking short stops. I barely hearing it when I brake hard.
From everyone's solutions, could y'all please tell me what to do next? Should I just save and change the rotors and calipers too? Any input will be very much appreciated please.

Did you bed the brakes when you installed them?

Get some speed up and smash the brakes down to a low speed ~ 3-4 times. Give it a bit of time between stabs to cool.

Fred, I did when I first installed them. I will be trying that tonight and see how it goes.
I am however close to changing the rotors anyway to drilled & slotted. Maybe I won't hear it once that change is made?

Has anyone who changed their rotors to aftermarket seen any difference?

The noise is just so annoying and for someone who has little patience for certain things like that it drives me nuts I just want to get out and tear the brakes off in the middle of the road lol.
