I am very interested to see how much the weight of the Mustang increases in 2011.

Bah...the party hasn't even started.

Declaring the Camaro's 'reign' over assumes a LOT...like that Chevy won't make further improvements to the suspension (or offer a phantom "trackpack")....it assumes the interior won't be nip/tucked....and that the engineers won't use this time, and a well-earned successful launch to find some weight savings of their own.

Hmf. 2011 and 2012 is going to be interesting. But far be it from anyone to declare a "winner" just yet.

Literally, the only two choices were either a 3.5L Cyclone or a 3.7L Cyclone...and since the 4.0L Cologne has already ceased production we knew one or the other was coming. Genuinely, it was either the Cyclone or nothing.

As for the 5.0L, that program existed long before we knew what the Camaro would be bringing to the table in terms of power. I'm certain the Camaro wasn't ignored, but none of these programs was actually conceived as an answer to anything the Camaro specifically brings to the table.
This sounds awfully similar to the Camaro's story after being hit mercilessly with comments like "Without the Mustang this wouldn't have happened".

They knew that the Camaro was out for blood. It only makes sense to get started on something ridiculous. If they had no need for a 400-hp Mustang, then it might have entered the Mustang in response to other GM performance brands, including the Cobalt SS or Corvette, which posts some pretty ridiculously good times for any FWD 4-banger. Besides, GM's Camaro Concept had a 400-hp LS2 in it. There was no reason to believe it would have less power than that since 2006.

We know it should have a HUD and possibly ambient lighting that includes the dash. There also might be a better rear end ratio. Traditionally, even model years signify cosmetic enhancements for GM while GM releases engineering improvement updates on odd model years.

I think it will be, maybe with some different gears though and some color options.

Mechanically? [raises hand]. I'd bet real money that the only changes we'll see for MY2011 will simply be options packaging and cosmetics. It is almost a sure thing that some paint choices will be shuffled. New wheel designs or small interior tweaks aren't out of the question. I'd be very surprised if the C&C package wasn't offered on the 1SS, and we might see HUD and/or full ambient lighting. But a track pack, or better engines? Highly doubt it. Lighter weight? Doubt that even more. Better visibility? Out of the question.

I don't know where you're getting this. GM is going through a bankruptcy so that they can free themselves from debt (and therefore gain money). With the "success" of the Camaro so far (23,000 sold orders according to GM; how many are actually sold I do not know), I can't imagine it'd be in their best interests to let it stagnate.

We already know additional gear options will be coming (3.73), so that's at least one change. I am not saying that there will definitely be an update, but to say that there won't be as a 100% fact without any proof is silly.

Seriously doubting is acceptable, but stating it as a 100% fact isn't.
