Where does the speed limit jump to 80 out there... I drove it not too long ago, but can't remember where that was, or do you have a pretty good idea what the drive time is from San Antonio and/or Dallas...

Yahoo Maps distance: San Antonio to El Paso 552. mi Time: 7 hrs 21 mins
Dallas to El Paso 636. mi Time: 9 hrs 3 mins This is from downtown Dallas... and San Antonio. i think we can figure 30 minutes shorted actual drive time. but then we figure in the stops and a lunch break... so,
Sa to EP... 8.5 hours
Dallas to EP...10 hours...
Houston to SA... 2.5 to 3 hours... So 11 hours to El Paso, with stops and lunch figured in...

That being the case... If the Houston folks left there meet up at 6:00 am, they could meet up with the San Antonio folks by 8:30 or so... 30 minutes to gas and break, say hellos' etc... SA and houston folks are on the road to El Paso by 9:00...This puts us in El Paso around 5:30...6:00...

Dallas folks leave their meet spot around 7:30 to 8:00, and arrive in El Paso around 5:30 ... 6:00

I am open to suggestions and assistance on this... and feel free to refine this...

Las Cruces is 45 minutes or so further up the road after getting through El Paso, and we will be getting there around rush hour, but I do not know how intense that is compared to Dallas, San Antonio, or the Bay Town Parking Lot...

I think the Dallas gang will have some folks from as far as Virginia joinging them to eventually meet up with all of us for the trip to Chandler... BlackHawk6, and maybe others...

I am trying to be considerate of all with this, and at the same time allow for us to get to Las Cruces, check in and maybe have some time to go over to De La Vegas... Where Pat is trying to set up a nice meet and eat deal...

We can sleep in a little Thursday morning, as it is only another 5.5 hours or so the rest of the way...

comments, suggestions...

Just thinking. Isn't filling up for gas at gas stations going to be a nightmare with tons of cars in a caravan? Memories of Jimmy Carter's whack at running the nation. LOL Can you say long gas lines.

There are several towns along the way that. Have numerous stations along the access roads...it could be interesting though

If memory serves me right I believe the best opportunity for gas between San Antonio and Ft. Stockton is Junction, Ext 456 which has some decent facilities and a stop there would allow everyone to get to Ft. Stockton which has plenty of facilities and then on to El Paso. Whoever is coming out of Austin could make the run west on 290 and meet up with the San Antonio group in Junction for the gas stop.

It was not a problem at this years event, as long as its coordinated the way we did it this year we should be fine. We can predetermine our stops and gas up and rally at one spot and go from there.

yeah thats true. we just need to make sure that everyone has walkie takies so that we can talk to each other when we are going to pull over for gas.

I have some wrist band walkie talkies that (supposedly) have about a mile range... could be useful for me +1.

And if I do get to go (too soon to be able to ask off for work), I'll probably have to make more stops than most cause i'm a girl and that's how I roll... I drove out to El Paso in July and we had to make 3 stops - and only one was for gas LOL

So we might need to have a seperate pit stop schedule for the ladies that are like me LOL
