Get the car that speaks to you - makes you feel giddy! Without question, the Challenger did it for me. Wife waited and waited for the Camaro SS to come out - she's a Camaro girl from way back. When she got in one, she hated the interior and bought a 2010 Mustang GT instead (she didn't want to wait for the 2011's). I offered to put in a supercharger but she's not interested. I'd of rather had a Camaro SS in the garage than the stang but it was her choice and her daily driver. Now if it were a 2011 GT... Regardless, the 2010 GT is a lot of fun to drive. To each his/her own.

I hear ya man. I won't lie, I LOVED the Challenger. Do you think it would be to hard to install an oil pressure gauge and a volt-meter in the Challenger?

I wouldn't do it but I'm sure a qualified person could.

I drove both including a GT500 prior to making my decision. The GT500 lost my vote because I couldn't keep it planted running 575 HP or something like that. It would spin sideways with the tap of the gas which was making passing people a bit ridiculus. The regular GT was just kind of boring to me. The ride was great, but the body was just blah.

What led me to the SS was primarily the looks. Next it was the comfort of the driver's seat. The minus was getting used to the visibility thing. But I am still pissed about the lack of a spare.

You make a good point, since it will take me a few months to even get enough money to put down on the car the 2011 Challengers will be out. At my dealer there is already a 2011 Challenger SE in transit to them. Just for kicks I was gonna check out the new V6 with 6-speed auto
Yah, I can kinda see the VVT on the R/T models (should be optional though) but they now also are suppose to have the same VVT thing on the 392 engines...

Thats why I love the challengers, because (no disrespect to 5th gen owners) they looks MUCH more like an true muscle car then an 5th gen camaro or current mustang, thats just my honest opinion though. And you gotta figure, if you got the muscle car looks, why not get that muscle car rumble also

Personally (and again no disrepect to challenger owners) because of the challengers very muscular look, there should be a v8 shoved in between those fenders... A big one haha. And while there not carbed and throaty like the old beautys, its what we got
So I would personally go for an v8 model if I was you (not sure if that was already decided or what) but, hey if you cant do that, you still got a sick car!

The camaros seem to be able to pull the v6er style (sorry not sure what word to use) better then the challengers, expecially on your color option, wheels, etc. example, an yellow with black (or basicy) silver wheels in a v6 model looks more like a sports car to me, but an SS in black with big alumi 20's look more like a muscle car to me, Soo you can pull off both looks with the camaro But that might not be the same feeling you have as I do, maybe im just crazy lmao.

Sorry I got so off topic, Good luck with your choice man! Im sure your pick an GREAT ride!

EDIT: I just reread your reply to my initail post, so if im understanding right you DO want the increased performance of an cam upgrade without the lopey rumble correct? Man im beginning to think the challenger R/T was made for you LMAO!

Test drive the Camaro the same way, turn off traction and stability control (press and hold the traction control button for 10 seconds), get up to about 4500-5000 RPM in first gear then hit second gear floor it and feel your head sink into the head rest WOOO OAHAHA HWOWOWHAH!!!
Haha I had that though in my head too lol.

No, I DO want a LOPEY idle, I dont care about increased performance. The only reason I'd choose a V8 is because the sound is better and because of the LOPEY idle a cam would produce. Thats what I love about the old muscle cars, that lopey crazy idle.

Oh ok sorry, my bad *blush*
An bit off topic but I figure I'll ask it, have you considered anything other then just a currently produced sports/muscle car? Like possibly say an LT1 swapped thirdgen camaro? Basically something that is reliable, cheap and fun, but that wont brake down on you all the time and that isnt hella expensive but will still give you that muscle car feel.
Like there are some thirdgen camaros running around typically that have swapped in LT1's that are for sale (and are usually modded with an cam, headers, exhuast etc.
Think about it...

I do like the 3rd gen camaros, and my dad would give me his 355 V8 small block. BUT, its also a matter of getting a very reliable vehicle as soon as possible.

I do but unless you are constantly looking at the oil pressure gauge while driving, it's usually gonna be too late to do anything about it. Plus you're apt to smell it and see smoke. From my experience, loosing oil usually happens fast and furious. It's one of those nice to have gauges but not critical, IMHO.

True, thats a very good point. lol

I do want a new vehicle, all ive ever had is crappy used trucks. Although my v6 s10 has 274,000 miles and counting, and still hasn't quit turning over(thank god). Although ive always had trucks, I want to buy myself a Muscle Car.
