Not an apples to apples comparision at all, anytime a Car Company "Flys out" a race car driver to drive a car equipt with R-compound tires, your going to have impressive results. Don't get me wrong the Boss is a decent package except for the brakes imo. BTW isnt that the R8 when it only had the 4.2 V8 in it??? in any case for those into the mag rags, wait till car and drivers lightning lap where you have THE SAME driver driving all cars similar to the stig lap times on top gear. But anyone expecting the Boss to keep pace with C6 Z06s or new 5.2 V8 R8s at your local race track (Lap after Lap) are going to be in for a rude awakening.

I don't read their articles much, I just look for the test numbers which seem to be fair. Inside line and edmunds seem to get lower all around numbers for the cars they test. At least motortrend has some good test drivers. If you don't care for their opinions, like I don't, just skip to the numbers. They are good for that at least

I hate to admit that I do this, lol. I totally agree with you on that, at least on acceleration times - they run pretty good.

"we don't think it stands a chance against this Boss on a racetrack."

What track?

Drag strip? Advantage ZL1

Short and/or technical roadcourse (Lime Rock Park/AutoX)? Advantage BOSS

Long-track/superspeedway (i.e. Le Mans/Daytona)? Advantage ZL1

Like they say, "But we look forward to finding out."

Thanks.........I was crapping bricks thinking about a v8 Stang beating a 12 cylinder R8....I just couldn't fathom it. Impressive but I like the fact that the Boss has showed its cards, now GM has plenty of time to get ready to tear it up.

Now straight line performance .. by by BOSS.

My thoughts exactly. Well said! This not a comparison of equals. They are two different cars intended for two completely different purposes.

Pitting a ZL1 to a Boss on a road course, makes about as much sense as matching the Boss to a ZL1 on a drag strip....Boss get doors blown off.

Motor Trend has a history of doing silly comps such as this. It creates passionate controversy (read the angry emails next month), piques interest and lastly, controversy sells magazines.

Motor Trend = OPINIONATED GARBAGE

Fickle bastards will pour sugar in your ear one month, then shiv you in the kidney next month. When it comes to Motor Trend- if it's not FACT, then take it with a whole saltshaker.

Actually the way that Motor Trend and Car & Driver have always loved the BMW, I was surprised that they said the Boss was the better car. The ZL1 will have it's work cut out for them, but I think that it will be a lot closer than a lot of people think.

It does not matter how the ZL1 performs, It could beat all forms of the mustang and the mag rags will still complain about "Low visability" because of the styling and take off points because of it. Which is lame because arguably the camaro is the most attractive car of the pony cars.
