I have a feeling that the first year Camaro is going to get the 6.2 LS3 and the following year will be the year for the Gen V engines.

It's a sad thought, but if it's the difference of one year for a Gen V motor I'll wait that year.

I might lease a Camaro in the meantime though, haha, I want to be in one so badly >.<

ford has to use superchargers.

Notice that ford is using superchargers and bigger more exspensive motors, custom made from roush racing. To make the same power as n/a lsx series motors, Duh,definitly cheaper.

BUT the normal GT's are nowhere near 29k.. Please dont use this information as fact.. I can drive down to any of my local ford dealers here in pheonix and pickup an 08 GT loaded with options and leather for no more than 28k (that includes tax, title, license fees, and hell MSRP for that is only barely 28k).. Yes maybe the first 6 months will have dealers reaping large markups, but the camaro on the same trim levels as the mustang will be in the same price range..

Ive said it 100 times and its still in my signature so read that and follow it.. PLUS I can guarantee ANYONE can get it for MSRP Just check out the MSRP dealers thread or order from Rick Daniels.
yeah try to touch a gt 500 for less than 70,000

450 hp and 30 mpg?

Lets be realistic. 450 hp and 30 mpg is far fetched even with direct injection, cylinder deactivation, varaible valve timing, and a six-speed. I think 25-28 mpg is a little more reasonable. With 450 hp though, who cares!

Gm claimed with the Concept vehicle that an LS2 with AFM will grab 30mpg. I will grant you however, that that was a guestimate before the EPA updated their specs...so I still expect around 29mpg out of a 400horse Camaro.(given an increase in efficiency between that guesstimate, and now.)

I love spouting off the presumed specs on the Camaro. There should be a V8 giving about 30 mpg highway, with a hp to weight ratio of about 10:1. Very very few cars can do that. Actually, I'm not sure if any factory produced cars can do that. Perhaps a little hot hatch, not sure.

Long live the Chevy small block!

Nope. That was the NorthStar replacement that was killed off. Its confusing I know, but the Chevy Small Block that we know and love will be around for a looong time to come. So Caddies will be getting versions of Chevy/GMC/Pontiac etc V8's rather than their own special engines. At least, thats my understanding of it

I gotta' wonder how much revenue Cadi brings in. A "premium" V8 doesn't necessarily mean a DOHC motor IMHO.

Or they could give a smaller, lighter engine that makes as much horsepower, the LS9. Unsure on price but I don't think that they would be too different. LS9 might be cheaper for them to make. But either way, its about as likely as the Camaro weighing 3300 lbs next year.

LOL, no kidding. Although I like the "bigger the better' moto, I'd prefer a LS9 over a big block any day. Don't get me wrong; I love the rat motors, but I love the LSX motors more. As long as I can get close to 500 horsepower in a 3700 lb. Camaro, I'll be a happy camper.
