I love how the OP started this thread trying to show us how a catch can is useless but this threaded ended doing the exact opposite. I think I gonna have to get one for my car.

How do you clean out the RX can? Won't it eventually get clogged up with only a drain tube to empty it? What about the build-up inside?

With our fire suits in racing you never want them wet or sweaty or the heat in a fire will cook you. Dry they offer a few moments of protection.
The RX can should not need to ever be cleaned (some of the early ones we have over 100k miles on) but if you choose you can pull the center fitting off (it is a press on fitting) and spray brake clean into it, shake it up and drain. On the drain hose, you just run it down and zip tie it loosely where ever you want the drain hose to locate. Invisacord has the best step-by-step how to yet!!! |

Just installed my Rx can and cleaned the intake and valve with sea foam an I'm guessing there was a pretty good oil build up because it smoked forever... I'll prolly re clean them a gain this weekend.

I would feel better about buying one if they called it a Frebis Rod and not a Catch Can

I installed a catch can over the weekend on my wifes 2012 we drove it about 80 miles the other day I unscrewed it tonight to look at it and there is already oil in it. So it seams to be working if you ask me.

A Frebis Rod is attached to the Franistan and every car has one. And I’m not Trolling I just think the thread is silly. Buy one or don’t buy one, I don’t see the need for a debate. I think they are silly but I’m going to buy one because for $150 what do you have to lose? It can’t hurt the motor can it? I haven’t seen anything posted that couldn’t be attributed to one or more different causes other than NOT having a catch can. But you never know when you’re wrong and as long as it doesn’t hurt the motor and doesn’t cost over $500 buy the thing. Otherwise some of these guys will have to get a real job. Their living the dream job and I’m happy for them and I don’t mind donating once in a while. And don’t forget, it just might work. |
