![]() Can it be too tight? The tensioner was working. Had blet dust all over after racing but was still working well.

Thanks for the input. So it looks like a tension issue to you?
Once I get a new belt, I'll pry the s**t outta the idler pulley.

I think the belt dust is inevitable. Rubber bent vs steel pulleys. The bets going to wear. To tight? With the properly sized belt, nope.

Wait? Surely you have to release tension on the tensioner while pulling the idler? Or it would be easier to just loosen the tensioner to tighten instead of the idler?
![]() Tension would be loosened on the tensioner if you just released the idler. I may be over thinking this. It's the easiest way for me to get it so tight.

In this pic these washers aren't supposed to be here. May be nothing but could be forcing the belt to the outside (front) of the blower pulley edge. |

Oh crap. I think they were supposed to be on the outside between the head of the bolt and flat washer. Damn. It does look weird.

The next stop after that pulley is the blower pulley. If it misguides the belt to the lip of the blower pulley it can force it onto the edge. I bet that is what happened. Also check to make sure there is no washer or anything on the tensioner where it connects to the head. |

Since the new tensioner is 8 rib and the sc pulley is 6, should the belt be sitting in the middle of the 8 rib? mine was all the way to the back of the 8 rib pulley.

I agree with you. But the belt jumped forward and was hanging over the front of the pulleys.

And if those washers are making the pulley sit too far forward that could be the problem. I'd bet it is. |

That's an easy fix to move those to the right side of the tensioner. I do dumb shit all the time.
Supercharged SS, thanks for checking your setup

Like this.
If the tensioner is too far forward then it causes the belt to want to ride toward the front of the blower pulley. |

Not 100% that that's it but I'd guess it's a good chance.
But make sure the third arm is flat against the head also. I almost left the grounding wire between it. It is designed to have nothing between them at all. |
