the coils of the relay is not polarity conscious. so hook up the relay coils just like the diagram. and on the contact portion of the relay, one terminal is input ( which is also used for circuit voltage ) and the other terminal is the output for the blinker bulb. very simple

these pics prolly wont help you but this is all i took before i installed on my car. this is the one we built last night. We tried to make it neater and look a little better. Dont read to far into the schematic. Just lay all your components out on the board and solder them in. Then print the schematic and get you a highlighter to reference what you have wired and take one hook up at a time. It takes around an hour or so to build if you take your time.

pins 85 & 86 are to the coil...
30 & 87 are where you connect the brake light wire that you cut.

essentially what your doing is putting a switch inline with the brake light using the relay, and the timer circuit is what closes it. so pins 30 and 87 are not polarity specific.

Subscribed! Thanks for the great write up and info. Think I'll be trying this next weekend along with the other lighting mods I want to get done before the Sturgis rally.

Seems like there's a couple new electronics guys in here taking a stab at this? Has anyone seen this post I made in the last DIY sequential tail light thread?

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...00&postcount=5

I bought a set of sequential tail lights of a guy that had stopped selling them on ebay a couple years back, and I decided to tear one apart to see if someone here could maybe see how they worked and reproduce them. The thing I liked about them is that the whole circuit was small enough, that it could be epoxied right to the back of the bulb socket and it wasn't big and bulky. It the post I list the numbers off the IC's I could identify.

I have tried making something with just the VND830SP, but that was before I knew there was a few more things on the bottom of the circuit, and all I could get it to do was just light the bulb, no sequential...

The small design would be nice but the smaller you make it the harder it is to solder together. The one I built was small enough lol start adding all those jumpers and it gets tedious. There is plenty of room under those plastic covers for my module

possibly one of the best mods I've made so far! I attached pictures of the project box I used from RadioShack and how I fit it in with the lights! Thanks for the awesome guide OP!

Here is the video:

Okay i read back through the thread. So what is the final Radio Shack Part numbers? Is the only thing that changed from the OP the timer? Wanting to buy the parts today and wire them up. Thanks for all the effort you guys have put into this to give us all a cheaper alternative to sequential tail lights.
