I swear if the gas cap is on the passenger side and someone opens my door into yellow pole at the gas station...

2K05GT, I feel your pain. I was born and raised in Virginia, and I moved out as soon as I could. I completely agree that it is a police state, and some of their laws are a joke. Punishing the citizens instead of the criminals is ridiculous...but that's different topic.

Anyway, the reason why I've been told remote starters are illegal in SOME states is because with a manual transmission they will jump if left in gear and the engine is started. The starter would have to ignore if the brake or clutch is depressed in order to start, and those are safety mechanisms.

Regarding the all metal shifter, I can see this being an aftermarket part, and I would definitely own one. I have an aluminum Tri-ax shifter in my Mustang, and an aluminum shift knob. The heat can be an issue, but only when the car is hot, then left sitting for a while, then driven again. When the car is moving, cool air helps a bit. There would be easy ways of keeping it cool though, like plastic duct work carrying cold air from the undercarriage directly to the shifter under the center console. The all metal shifter would look much better with the parking brake, since there is no longer a leather boot over that. Personally, I am not a fan of the leather stuff, except on seats.

I like the single-light design of the concept better - plus the interior, especially around the stereo area looks too "cheesy" if you ask me. Best option for grille would be hidewaways.

The alternative would be you having to open the driver's side door EVERY time you refill, if the cap is on the left. A passenger side cap is what I have now, and personally I strongly prefer the passenger side for the cap. I can get very close to the pump, which means less of a chance of me hitting the safety posts (or whatever they are called) with my door and less chance of someone accidently hitting my car when they try to maneuver between the pumps at 15+ MPH.

I now saw the concept interior, that is far better than the actual production one and should be offered at least as an option.

Every new car I've driven for a while lets you press the unlock on the key fob once for the driver's door and twice to unlock all the doors.

I can think of two that would probably fit. The port injected 3.6 (yawn) and 4.0 version of the DI 3.6. A DI 4.0 could run with the 340hp 5.7 Hemi and use a fair ammount of the torque gauge...

They would do that, except for two things. 1) its not practical. 2) its too expensive

Using the pic Silver Turtle posted, on the concept, the "gas arrow" is pointing to the passenger side, but we know the filler is on the driver's side (everyone remember, it was the cool "on-top-of-the-fender" cap that a larger portion of us wanted).

I'm thinking maybe that arrow that we are seeing in the interior shot isn't an indicator of the gas filler location.

I'm still hoping the gas filler is on the driver's side....I'm with Tag...convenience.

Overall, loving the phases that this car seems to be going through. It's making nice progress.

Did anyone notice that "camo'd" vehicle that looked like white triangles on black paint....was it just me or did the white triangles look "furry"?

Anyway, keep up the good work GM and the nice steady stream of spy shots/info is keeping the interest high....keep that up too.

Yup, seems to be a bit of photoshopin' and blurring in certain areas... which is fine... I rather get something than nothing. Soon enough we'll see what was hidden. Regardless if it's GM that's releasing these "spy" photos, I thank them a million times over!

As in the gas filler, it doens't matter to me on which side it will be on. I'm fine with the radio as I use Sirius (or XM if I have to on the Camaro). I just wanted to make sure the jack for my passenger's Ipod would be there. The less after- market I have to do the better and so far, it doesn't look I have to do much. We got a lot to see yet.

The new 2009 5.7 Hemi is 380 HP, just for reference.

I just hope there is a set of pre-outs on the back of that stock deck. There are some cars were an adapter plate for and aftermarket stereo would work, this car is not one of them. The stereo is so integrated that it just would kill the interior flow to add an aftermarket. Regardless, im sure that some enterprising company will come up with an iPod adapter for this car, and im going to add some external amps and subs to mine personally

I really think the photos are from GM. The windshield pics are too blurry and photoshopped to be coming from your everyday Joe Schmoe. But keep em coming regardless of where they come from!!!!!

I'm pretty sure it'll have an iPod jack built in, but its probably hidden. A lot of the Ford cars right now have them in the console, so maybe that's where its at now?
