My friends think my parents bought my Zl1.. I pay it no mind, I just tell them I make enough money by managing it well, not having a kid at 20, and working hard. They quiet down

Pretty much this. Staying single and not having kids REALLY helps you to focus and get your life in order when you get out of school.

That's the advice I gave to both my kids. Stay single, don't worry about getting married and having kids until you are 30. There is plenty of time for all that AFTER you get the job you want and build up a nice savings.

My parents gave me so much crap right out of highschool.
Me and my sisters finally had to tell them it's not like back in their day where they could casually walk into any place wearing what ever and mention working there and get hired on spot <-- both my parents said they never got turned down and always got an interview even by word of mouth either on the spot or next day..
For my hospital job I had to know people.. I couldn't just walk in there with a damn smile and my resume.. I had to go ONLINE first.
Hospitals are where the jobs aare. You're a smart kid. I spent 15 years as a steel worker until Bethlehem Steel stated to tank. I've been an RN for the past 18.

Now the management and shareholders want the whole pie and most youg people can barely afford a beat up used car. The OP was upset by a few jerks but the reality is it is unusual to see a very young person with a new car. Not many good jobs so the assumption is a spoiled kid with rich parents.

lol, need to take off the rose colored glasses man. things were never that easy. but yes, you are correct. most unskilled menial labor has moved overseas. you want a good job in the premier 1st world economy you need to go to school

It wont be the last time, but a lot of people go through this not just the younger camaro owners. My friend Eric drives a 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo convertible and he does a lot of videos with other exotics. He can not post anything on facebook because people freak out about the car he drives. All sorts of shit he has to put up with. But he loves cars and racing. So he just does not post anything on facebook, even though many of our friends love seeing his videos.

I would just say its a life lesson on ignoring assholes.

Eric's Lambo is the grey convertible.

I have had 60s performance cars. Now drive a V6 stick. Never had anyone diss me. Sometimes they ask me whats in it and I tell them, I also tell them its running high 13s with ease and there ears seem to perk up.

I don't get the whole "it's you dad's car", I get the he is "rich" thing. People just don't understand that people sacrifice doing things in order to get something they've wanted all their life. My family who knows what I've done to get this car still dig in to me sometimes and it gets aggravating to say the least.

more holier than though BS, only this time its about being "grown up" and not a kid.

Good for the op at being to buy such a great vehicle at a young age! Whatever you did to get where you are you should be proud! I have a 20 yr old who went through esthetics school on my dime and is now working in retail. She drives a beater that needs work, but blows all her money on clothes. I wish she would focus on saving up for something nice, car, travel, move out etc. you are young, do what you want and have fun. Who cares what others think!

Your parents did something right that made you appreciate hard work, the value of the dollar and achieving goals on your own. I had to wait until my kids were almost grown before I could even consider buying any type of nice, new car. Life happens, enjoy it!

Having your momma feed you thru a straw for the rest of your life over a stupid comment sounds like a real great idea. The fights you win. You end up in court with an assault charge and some smart ass trying to sue you for everything you have including your precious Camaro. Or better yet you land a lucky punch.( I assume it'll be lucky. Guys that talk tuff like you are rarely the tuff ones in the real world). Smart ass goes down and hits his head on the concrete and dies. After that you get to have all the sex you could ever want. It'll be with the Aryan Nation or some hood rat gang bangers. But even that's probably better than your getting now! There is a time to defend yourself. Someone hurting your feeling cause they talked about your car. That's not the time tuff guy. You children carry on with your tuff talk and have a great day.
is this where you get super brave and go super overboard to prove you have nuts..

talk about bi-polar..

the kid is 19, he'll learn his life lessons himself. He doesnt need "grown ups" holier than thou speeches.. Let him learn things how he learns them.
