When I special ordered the 2LT dealer offered me the RS package for 1/2 price but did not want it because of the summer tires & did not want to store winter tires & rims (live in an urban highrise so can not store at home). Until the Camaro was driving front wheel drive autos with all seasons since the 1970s & never a problem in snow.

The stock Camaro all season tires suck in snow, worst I have had in decades. Issue: not the car but the all season tires. Wish I could find a better tire to fit my 19" rims. However, good for me only have to drive to work 3-days a week, have about 20 days sick leave a year, and a professor. Weather gets too extreme I just cancel classes so my students pray for snow because they know this Texas expat does not like driving in the white stuff - LOL.

Two winters ago a Toyota with brand new snow tires bumped my rear at a stop sign (chipped bumper paint $650). She was going very slow (about 5 mph), but ice on slight decline street = screwed. Most people in Ottawa know how to drive in bad weather. Yet every winter I see 2-3 fender benders in the campus parking lot. Wonder what that is all about (in a hurry & late for class)? When winter semster starts I tell my students if they don't feel safe to drive, stay home & will not record them absent if they email me.

Watching that last vid of the Camaro slipping almost made me feel sick as there is a winter chill in the air. Next month also have to make my annual appointment to have the Camaro rust treated ($120).
What tires come with the stock 2LT?

I live In Flagstaff, Arizona, which, surprisingly, sometimes recieves the highest snowfall totals than any other city in the lower 48! As a single mom putting myself through school, I can't afford a second car and I love my Camaro! So she will be seeing the snow. However, I grew up driving this mountain, and I know me and my girl can handle it. It's all about the ability of the driver and the tires you have.

After the RN is over, I would love a Silverado for those yucky days so I can spoil my car and let her have a seasonal vacation.

My problem would be the salt, sand, and rocks thrown on the car. Just budget $1000 to get the front end repainted every 2-3 seasons.

Otherwise I think it would be fine depending on how many hills there are around you. I had a 2wd GMC pickup with an open rear axle (no limited slip) and drove it to skiing in WV and Penn all the time. Good tires. Front of the hood got peppered though.

Id say the V6 with snow tires should be ok. the heavier the better and these cars are heavier then most. I didnt even think of buying a car until i could also get a 4x4 for the winter.
I drove my 1993 Z/28 year round when I lived in northern Illinois. You act like its impossible. Is it ideal, no, but it gets done all the time. No one will die if you have some ability and come common sense. You should know this coming from NY!

I used to drive my '94 Z/28 in the winter/sleet/snow...no traction control or StabiliTrak back then on that model...and big fatty tires (albeit they weren't rated summer only)...

Although as I got older, I chickened out more and more whenever the weather turned ugly, until I finally bought a 4WD after the Z/28 blew a head gasket in late 2009

Can anyone tell me if running a 225 60 18 on the 245 55 18 Steelie rims is going to be an issue? I know u can usually go up or down a size and I can get these tires for around $70 less per tire than the next cheapest option.

I'm only 17, so it is my only car. I drive through the winter on winter tires and when it is really bad I use my sisters lexus or have my friends drive! Chicago, Il
