I don't know about that. The mustang has one of the best dollar per horsepower ratio of any car on the market, even more so when it was launched.

Malibu SS? I don't know of any Malibu SS (unless I'm mistaken) within the last ten years with 300hp....Are you thinking Impala SS?
And nobody compares THOSE, because one's FWD, which puts it so far out of it's class...I could fly to the moon and still be closer.

If there is addition of an IRS to the Mustang I see the price going up for that, but not for a new 5.0L or 6 speed.

The 6 speed in the new mustang will probably be the Tremec 6060, which happens to be in a lot of different cars these days. So there is a high volume of those trannys out there and probably be a bit cheaper.

Also, the new engines Ford is coming out with will be in all their F series trucks, so the high volume of production will help keep the overall costs down.

Again I don't know anything, I am still speculating.

I like the Impala SS myself but here are a two of the biggest reasons I don't think the Impala SS and Mustang GT are really compared that often:

Coupe vs. Sedan
RWD vs. FWD

I certainly hope so. I'm both a Mustang and Camaro fan, so I'd love to see some good ol' fashioned competition between Ford and Chevy.

This is out of subject. I drive a 1999 red camaro rs and my girlfriends dad drives a 2006 mustang (v6) and we always have friendly arguments about which is better mine or his and im just asking here........can my camaro 3.8 v6 beat his 4.0 v6. incase weight touches subject mine is t-tops.....if that matters.

Sorry, but the Mustang's got you beat by a pretty good margin. The V6 Mustang can run 0-60 in 6.9 and the quarter in 15.3, while the 3800-powered RS can run 0-60 in 7.4 and the quarter in 15.7. If it's any consolation, six years of technological improvements make a ton of difference, and if he was driving a '99 Mustang V6 (with times of 8.6, and 16.5, respectively), you'd run circles around him.
