Kind of scratching my head here . . . this seemed to have turned into a "Do I want to save 2 MPG buying a 2LT instead of a 2SS?" thread!

Yeah, I sincerely considered the 2LT . . . nice car . . . but bought the 2SS . . . and have never once looked in my rearview mirror since the night I first hit the accelorator!

Now, if it was about miles per gallon, I would have waited to buy a Chevy Volt instead of any Camaro!

Seems to me there is only one reason to buy a 2LT (with over 300 hp) instead of the 2SS (with over 400 hp) . . . CoC . . . "cost of car" and living within your means . . . the only reason in my mind to buy anything less than the 2SS . . . too stay within your means.

If buying the 2SS would have stretched me financially to far, I would have bought the 2LT and have been absolutley excited about it! Or even a coupe LS is phenominal, if that is only one you can afford. If I only made what I made 10 years ago, it would have been an LS coupe now and I would be fired up about it. But, gratefully, I could afford the 2SS now and am fired up about it!

MPG? Is that your concern and you need a car today? Get an Aveo . . . that hatchback, of course, for the incredible styling!

But please stop the debate about the makes no real difference in the driving experience MPG stuff. Figure out what you can afford--within your means--and enjoy that one!

It's at least a 5 mpg difference, not two. And the V6 uses 87 instead of premium. When you add those two together the difference is not small.

Thank you for your intelligent contribution.

This is why nobody wants to post questions because everybody is so quick to judge a question or concern as a "joke." Grow up please.

Now the question, The first Camaro I test drove was the LT and have no problems with it. I bought the SS and am very happy with it for 2 reasons.
1. I could afford it and 2. I wanted it.

Buy what you can afford and be happy, not because of what is said here.
I can't wrap myself around what about my post scares you. I couldn't be any clearer, it's NOT a financial decision for me. Gas mileage as in waste. Period.

So we're talking about 15-17mpg for the LT/LS and 12-15mpg for the SS? Is this correct?

I don't know about that. menendez1293 said he was getting 17 MPG on an LT M6, only once have I gotten less that 20 on my SS A6 and it was like 19.6 mpg. The L99 can be run on regular if you want to give up some performance, I wouldn't but you can.

We love our manual 2SS. Look at it this way, you don't pay the gas guzzler tax.

NOPE! 2SS/RS M6 daily driver and LOVING IT.
Another guy who works in my building also has a 2SS/RS M6 daily driver.
Also a guy with a corvette and another guy with a supercharged Shelby GT as a daily driver.

Now we just need someone with a challenger to start working here
