Depends on how you look at it. Toyota is traded on the NYSE and I think at least one of my mutual funds in my 401k holds some Toyota stock. That means Toyota is at least partially owned by your fellow Americans. Since they even pay a dividend, that means at least some of the profits are coming back here.

In any event does it really matter when the end result is Americans drawing a steady paycheck? I'm not a fan of Toyota and their appliance cars myself, but I don't take it to the point of wanting to put Americans out of a job.

People don't think about those things though. A great example is everybody blew their stack about executives buying jets after the bailouts. Companies cancels jet orders and the end result is Cessna lays off 2500 real people who were drawing real paychecks.

As I prefer my Chevy over a Ford, its NOT good news, USA NEEDS to fight the FOREIGN companies.

Ford is working on a GT 350 Mustang with a supercharged 5.0 to compete with Camaro, it should be VERY nice IMO.

I think the non-supercharged 5.0 is going to compete with the Camaro just fine.

Not sure what displacement has to do with that statement.

Sad to hear of any workers losing their jobs.

For some reason, I just can't get into the Mustang. Maybe it's the retro design which I never liked in the original. It just seems small to me. I grew up surrounded by Muscle cars. Our little neighborhood had Camaros, FireBirds, Mustang and Cudas. Heck, I had a 94 Mustang and loved the look (obviously since I bought it). The current design reminds me of a girls car. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I know the wheel bases and lengths are similar, but it just doesn't scream muscle car to me. The Camaro and Chally (albeit simply) scream muscle car.

Now if only they would build a new Cuda. I've seen the Cuda Concept car and it too, screams muscle car.

That would be sweet.

Anyway, Hope the laid off Ford workers find jobs soon. Maybe they can be employed making more aftermarket parts for GM?

Did I misread something here or on another site (autoblog/wsj) that this same Ford plant that is laying off (or buying out) 900 workers also produces the not-so-stellar Mazda 6? If this is true, it just seems many of you are quickly taking a jab at the 2010 Mustang for no reason.

Here's hoping these 900 folks will be recalled later this Spring when anyone opting for a 2 door coupe will realize he can get a sweeta$$ V6 Camaro or Mustang (2011) for a few thousand more than a boring Honda Civic EX...

Isn't the new GT350 gonna cost whatever a standard Mustang GT costs + something like ~$30,000 to make it into a GT350? So in the end it would be somewhere in the $60-70 grand range? It better be a hell of a lot faster than Camaro SS for that kind of money.

That's correct. The plant is joint venture between Ford and Mazda and the 6 was a flop.

As for everyone taking jabs at the Mustang it's probably because the only news they have seen on this is...
