According to a ViperTomcat times, its better to buy the way cheaper R/T and add some mods for 2k$ and be as fast, as srt-8 is with a less money spent. 6.4 seems going to be the whole another story.

That is true if you only care about going fast in a straight line. The SRT8 is a complete performance package with heavy duty brakes on all 4's, upgraded suspension, wider rims to support more rubber, and comes pretty loaded in the base model (cloth is not offerred)...... The SRT8 is not designed to be 'go fast for cheap'..... just FYI....

So GM High Tech Performance ran the Challenger too? How much seat time did those guys have in the Challenger? Was there any possiblity that it may have been slanted a bit in favor of the Camaro being that GM employees ran it? Same driver too? Too many factors to just assume that 14.1 is the norm for the R/T.

13.3 is a very fast pass for a stock Challenger R/T.

The Challenger that ran the same day as the Camaro SS (GM High Performance) was driven by the Challenger's owner. He agreed to meet up with them and run his car.

I'm also not saying 14.1 @ 100 mph is the norm, but its off the pace of the Camaro SS (same day, same conditions, same track).

I talked to a Challenger R/T owner the last time I was at the track. He was really nice and he made several good clean runs (no wheel spin launches). The weather was perfect that day (60-70 degrees - low DA) and he was running consistant 13.8s in the 1/4 mile. He may have run a 13.7 or so when I wasn't looking. So I know the Chally R/T is good for mid 13s in good conditions.

But that leads me back to 13.3. That's a real fast time for a stock Challenger R/T.

Do you guys keep a stock Challenger R/T 1/4 mile list? I would like to see the top 20 fastest (bone stock) R/T times.

Challengerforumz got the 13.266 pass wrong. I'll corrected them. The 13.266 was with the K&N CAI only.

I'll see if I can find my 13.3 stock pass! I know I have a pair of 13.4's somewhere at my fiance's house.

Challenger talk.com keeps a Quarter mile fast list. For an R/T auto 13.16 at 105 is the fastest.

He did a very unbiased reiveiw and I like to hear that. My dad bought a 2011 GT the other day. Hate to say it but he is a Ford guy. He wooped me up and down the track, roads and gas stations all day long. LOL. I havent seen him that happy since the day he dropped me off for college. I guess it really was something special to him beating a GM guy with that car.

I agree with you that a manual is much more enjoyable to drive, it's the only way I'd go. But the auto is no slouch. The fastest stock time I've seen from a manual is 12:58, and 12:57 for the auto.

Do you by chance mean 13.58 and 57?

He thinks, that maybe he will be 0.1!!!! faster (which is very hard to be the truth) or his leather in interior will be the better quality, made from not a cow, but from a children butts.

SO, in my mind, actually, it is good, when someone, who just dont understand, what camaro is, going after mustang. Such ppl should drive mustangs and spam camaro5 with a VS threads..:ion Or better smth like genesis, cos actually mustangs ARE great cars.
And this is really good to know that someone, who couldnt afford a new SS will get his inferno monster cheaper
I'm proud to say I am both a GM guy and a Ford guy at the same time. I'll be driving up to Orlando from Miami today in my Camaro SS and Tomorrow driving back down with my new 2011 GT. Someone in a post on here posted about me wanting to get approval from forum members or trying to convince myself I am doing the right thing since I am trading in a far superior car..etc.. Well none of those reasons are true. I did consider trading it in for an Automatic 2011 Camaro at first however they did not have the color and interior combination I wanted in any Florida dealer. So my wife and I went to a Ford and a Jeep/Dodge dealer to test drive some other cars. I not only drove the Mustang but also a couple Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's and the Dodge Challenger SRT8's. I liked the Wrangler Unlimited quite a lot but the engine in them is so underpowered it makes it a terrible vehicle for highway driving. Obviously it is excellent off-road and around the city when speed is not needed and has the fun factor of being able to become a convertible and lose the doors. The challenger was too expensive. However I was dead-set on getting the 2011 Camaro so I called every dealer in Florida and none had my color combination in stock that I wanted and I needed to make this decision before the end of July to be able to take advantage of 2.99% apr from my credit union. SO we went to the Ford dealer and I drove the 2011 GT stick. I did not expect it to be better than my beloved Camaro but it is to me. It drives better and feels better in every way. Until you test drive one, you do not know what you're missing. I'm pretty sure most of you making these anti Mustang comments haven't driven the 2011 GT. Please do and then make your comparisons.

My god. Get a life.

You are not fooling/convincing anyone with half of a brain.

You joined in July. You own a camaro. You post readily with joy about how your dad beats you up and down the track and the road with his mustang. You have a 13.1 posted in your sig with joy. Which is what the mythical and beloved motor-trend article ran with the camaro. It isnt even an above average time for the camaro. I have seen plenty of your other posts as well. ETC. ETC. ETC.

Do you really have nothing better to do?

And regardless. Im not sure how he whooped you all around. The cars run nearly identical times on the track and the road course. IF The camaro or mustang wants to get beat up and down the road and or track then buy a vette or a gt500.

Even if you are not making all this up (highly unlikely), you really need to learn how to drive your car.

Sorry for the rant...I get sick of this crap.

Look at my join date, and my post history in this forum. I am just as much a Camaro enthusiast as anyone else on this site. The Camaro will always hold a special place in my heart, however it is the community that holds a stronger place in my heart than any one car. That is what the word Camaro stands for. Friendship.. There are some great people on here and I will continue to be a friend. Also Eric Hall at Classic Chevrolet whom I purchased my Camaro from last year. What a stand-up guy. He was reccomended to me by Camaro Scotty after he ran out of allocations for the pre-order. Amazing service and I highly reccomend him to anyone. Scotty too ofcourse. I will continue to be on this forum and pray for Stephanie's health. Her father is a great guy who has met others from this forum who are now close friends like PQ. So now I will be driving a different car...so what.. It is what's in your heart that really matters.
