Catch can on Vortech

Has anyone installed the Elite catch can on a Vortech supercharged installation? Vortech puts the coolant reservoir in the area that the can mounts, will they both fit?

You can mount it anywhere you have room, just need longer lines. For a Vortech/front mount super charger read this:

This is what I've been asking for a while ... I think there might be room drivers side near the firewall... Someone on here said under the intake elbow off the throttle body , but I don't see much room there ... I pic of where it's mounted woth a Vortech would be very helpful.

I don't have a vortech specific picture, but here is one of the alternate mount locations:

Looks like some good info-thanks for the link.

The Vortech comes with a check valve that you install in the vent line-to keep from pressurizing the crankcase I presume.

Would I need another in conjunction with the catch can? The short time you actually use boost on the street is it necessary to have the line to the supercharger inlet?

The only way to ensure crankcase evacuation at all running is with utilizing both the intake manifold vacuum & the head unit inlet suction, so dual checkvalves are needed. The RX can also meters/controls the amount of flow so oil is not pulled into the inlet.

You also want to

Vortech RX can install

This is how I mounted my RX catch can on my Vortech installation. I went with the RX can because it allowed for crankcase ventilation under boost, where the others did not seem to do that. I used the bracket supplied with the kit and modified it to bolt to the Vortech coolant tank bracket.

I'm still not 100% sure where to attach the line on the Vortech intake. (SC2150?)

Elite or SC2150,

How would you ever know if the catch can wasn't working down the road? Say 10 years from now how would I know if a check valve failed or a line was clogged? I'm assuming if it wasn't detected it wouldn't be good for the engine.

I like to keep my cars a long time and wouldn't want to run into a problem down 10 years or 100k miles from now.

Nice install!!

The second checkvalve runs to the front (inlet) side of the head unit usually in the piping between the main air filter and the head unit inlet.

The checkvalves should last 100k plus w/out issue. But to make sure, you can blow back through the line to each every 50k or so miles to make sure thay are still functioning. They will close imediately so you know they are still functioning. Should one ever fail, clean it with brake clean or they are threaded into the can top so can be removed and replaced easily.

Thanks for the info.

Should it fail and go undetected though, I assume it would be like a clogged vent line and the gases would pressurize in the crank case and start to corrode parts and mess the oil up? How long before this became a big problem?
