This kind of reminds me back in 1986/87 of the 87 Mustang 5.0 then a few magazines like Cars Illustrated and Super Stock and Drag Illustrated ran a pair of new 87 5.0s one was Mean Mr. Mustang, I can't remember the other, with a few bolt-ons they were running high 12s, at the same time the average Joe including myself could only get mid 13s with the same parts. Funny thing is all the 5.0 guys were going around saying the 87 5.0 was a 12 second car even though the stock 5.0s were just breaking into the 13s.
Fastest stock manual is a 12.58 so far, fastest stock autos have run 12.4s, 100% stock down to the tire and paper filter. Sure, average guys are going to run high 12s to low 13s, but that doesn't mean that the mid 12s that are being run in bone stock cars are the result of some conspiracy by Ford to belittle your camaro.

Well reading some articles I wouldn't put it past some magazines if they are ford fans to sway in fords favor or the few that are chevy fans in chevys favor.. Maybe not on purpose they just wont put the effort to run that car hard and really try for best time..
other thing I learnt is look at weather..

Someone tell me please why they always use a fully loaded 2SS with sunroof. I am sure the extra weight and the glass and motor on the roof does not help handling.

Oh, I agree that's definitely possible. However, he seems to believe some of the mag times are exaggerated or rigged, beyond what anybody is going to run in real life, when the truth is, private owners have put down better ET's and faster traps.

I guess none of the 5.0 guys in the SVT forum know how to drive their cars since they are only running what I posted, maybe they need instructions? Lets put a SS on a prepped track, with mine shaft conditions, and a shoe in driver, lets remove the front sway bar, maybe a little trunk weight (heck maybe sneak in a tune also) then go run a 12:50 then proclaim to the world that the 2010/11 SS is a mid 12 second car.

they can drive just fine, its just that there arent many 5.0 owners on that board. Both cars have had excellent conditions to run their cars in (the camaro even more so since it came out earlier) so you cant just say the 5.0 runs their times because of the conditions and not have it be the same case for the camaro.
I dont understand why you refuse to believe anything though. Someone here on camaro5 even traded in their camaro and got a new 5.0 and his times went from 13.4@107mph in the camaro to 12.8@111mph in the mustang. even with equal launch, using those trap speeds the mustang in this case would have been about 4tenths faster still. I know there have been reports of a camaro trapping as high as 112mph stock but on the same side of that token there has been posts of people (from this board even) witnessing a stock 5.0 trapping 114-115mph.
