Since we're on the subject, sorta... I just found out today my little Tiberius has an enlarged heart. Not a great prognosis, but we might be able to give him some beta blockers & keep him for a good few years. He's a real sweety. I'm doing my best not to dwell on it. I'm still not over losing my 20 year companion, Tiger a couple of years ago. That cat wallowed out a huge place in my heart.

For anyone that wonders, Tiberius is a Bengal Cat.

Just so you know, he isn't stressing about it.

One of our cats lived many happy years on Beta blockers. We sadly had to put her down due to her heart a few years ago. She made it to 19 before her little heart gave out. Of course the "kitty cartiaologist" thing was a little strange............and expensive. So I wouldn't look at this as a short term thing. Could go a lonnnngggggg time.

Thanks mlee, great compliment. I think he knows Tiberius was the name of an Emperor... and will be the name of a Starship Captain too.

Ra was outstanding, and I'm sure he had a great friend in you. Your new fella is gorgeous too, wildpaws. Love that name even more now that I know where it comes from. It's too bad we can't keep our friends with us forever. Tiber-kittums is an F3.

It's very helpful to know someone that had a kitty on beta blockers that lived to a good old age. My Tiger got diabetes when he was 13 and I gave him two shots a day of insulin. He made it to 20 years and a month before his kidneys gave out. He did really well up until the last couple of months too. My vet said a 20 year old diabetic is a certified miracle, but the insulin and some lactated ringers under the skin twice a week for the last couple of years kept the kidneys flushed and working as long as possible.

Every moment of care given to my friend was well spent. So too will be the money for the kitty cardiologist. If money can't buy love, I guess I'll have to rent it.

I'm feeling better about dealing with the situation. I'll let Yall know how things turn out.

I've had a couple of kitties over the last number of years that had renal failure, we did sub-q ringer's lactate once or twice a day which acted like dialysis for them, they did pretty well with that. My cats get better health care than I do, we had one that I opted for a corneal transplant to save his eye. My cats are like children to me (and my human kids are jealous), but the cats have meant a lot to me over the years and more so in the last few months.

I think perhaps Audi also puts a mileage counter on the PCM. Just past 1,000 and 1,500 on our trip back to MI and the car is now, by the seat of my pants, bat poop fast.

Now THAT's a good post, OldScool. I think I'd like to see the old, "how fast can you get out of that straightjacket" trick.

I think I'm in good shape sanity wise though. The last time I changed my mind I actually got one that works.

...but I am salivating over the straightjack... Uhm, I mean the 2014 and what new options will be available.

Specifically, performance options.
