OFFICIALLY ON THE LIST

Now it's OFFICIAL....................

During the Rodgers Chevrolet Open House today (5-12-11); I officially was put on the Becky Doyle list of ZL1 pre-order customers.

If you are truly serious about getting your ZL1, then talk to Becky, you can secure yours (based upon allocations) you can reserve yours for $1000 dollar deposit

Just FYI: I'm not buying the ZL1 just to say I have one. The CAFE rules are going into effect and probably the last time this amount of V8 muscle will be available from GM in the Camaro format.......... I see the ZL1 as the true collector car of the 5th Gen class!

Yes, I know for sure I'm going to buy.
No, I do not plan on buying the ZL1.
Undecided, I'm going to wait and see.

Personally, I'm going to wait and see, or either get a SS and supercharge it.

What are you going to do?

(This isn't too bash pricing etc. no one even knows it yet)
I'm assuming price is going to be realistic...

"Yes", I'm buying for sure.

Seriously though......Why does a zl1 cost so much more in Canakastan? (sarcasm ON)

For that kind of $$$ it would be a worthwhile trip to the US.
For some reeason we are the rip-off country for automakers. For example GM will only sell so many in each province which then creates lack of supply, so the dealerships put a huge markup Vettes (for example) because they know if someone really wants it they'll pay a premium. I expect the markup on a ZL1 will be around 30-40%, or more.
I was already told we're only getting so many ZL1's and they'll start at $80k, I don't know how true that's going to be but, I'm sure there's some truth to it. Regardless, I doubt it very much it will cost less than $50k anywhere, probably low balling too.

No price point discussed, just ability to be on the initial expected allocation list for Rodgers Chevrolet.

I did this with the Hummer H2 back in 2002, 8 months before the release!

I only have the Camaro (V1) and it has a dedicated mission and the ZL1 for me, will truly be the personal car!

I said earlier in the thread that I definitely wanted one if the price point comes in around or under $50K. Still not convinced that it will, so I think now that I'll let some sap go ahead of me with the initial purchase price, take the hit on the depreciation and when he sells it a year later, I'll get it for the price of an SS or less. Yeah, that's it...that's how I'll own this beauty!! And no, I'm not looking for a collector's item, I'm looking for a DRIVER!!!

Depreciation is....interestingly low on these cars.

There are some people selling 2010's a year, year and a half later for just a couple thousand under what they paid.

I will be putting more money down as soon as I sell one of my current Camaro's. I am already on the list with my dealer and I will get the car at MSRP. I will however get it in writing and signed that I won't pay over! I have been waiting for this camaro for a long time and have held off the urge to buy an SS. And for all the SS guys that will "just supercharge mine" it will take a lot more then a charger to get an SS to the level the ZL1 will be.

Smart man! I've been doing the same for about three years now. I've increased it every time I get a pay raise and I'm at 16k and 700 a month now.

Last time I checked, dealers were not allowed to sell a new car for more than MSRP in Ontario. I'm not sure about the other provinces but I bet we're not the only ones. They can sell used for over MSRP, but not new.

That said, the Corvette has a higher MSRP markup on most models in Canada at 30-35% compared to most other cars which are usually 20% higher. Oddly enough, the ZR1 is on the low end at being only about 15% more in Canada than it is in the states.

It defies logic that the Camaro is made in Canada and yet it cost the canadians so much more to purchase the car! Is the Canadian government to blame or GM? I mean the extra costs can't be in the transportantion to the GM dealers thier in Canada since it's made thier! Just trying to figure out why since I do not live up thier in the great white north.
