I figure with the trade in of my car, plus having close to 5 or 6k to put down, im looking at anywhere from 9-12k down on the Camaro, so i'm thinking Z28 for me.

So real quick question then, does anyone know when the APY is applied at a bank? Meaning, say I put $150 a month into a savings account with a 5.5 apy, is that figured at the end of the year? So is that 5.5 based on 1800 per year, or 150 per month?

The way APY works is actually kind of tricky. What's really happening is you get a lower interest rate on your money every month, but you gain interest on that interest payment, so over the course of a year, you've actually made 5.5% of your original investment.
Example: you put $1,000 into a bank account with 5.56% APY. You're really getting 5% per month, compounded. So, Month 1: $1,050 ($50 in interest) month 2: $1102.5 ($52.5 in interest) etc... month 12:$1795.86 $1000 / $1795.86 = 5.56 The APY figure is assuming that you don't touch your investment for a full year. |

Awesome! Thanks, actually i plan on not touching it until i can get the Camaro. I have a savings account at about that rate. And set up deferred direct deposit to drop 4% of my bi-weekly gross income to that account. Like a better 401k

Hi everyone I just joined the site , I like reading all the posts etc... and for shure we are all big fans of the new Camaro the greatest car ever built in my humble opinion ... anyways about the pricing , I was reading at "camarohomepage.com that the V8 Ls3 Z28 package " a high end six speed package , will be priced at 27.000 to 29.000 MSRP. Now this is what product manager for GM Cheryl Pilcher was quoted as saying and she should know , all I can say is AWESOME were do I sign up GLADIATORO (=

Really, I'm not too sure we'll see a Z28 with the LS3 for under $30,000 (assuming the Z28 is the top dog. Substitute SS if you prefer), but either way the Camaro has a lot going for it that will allow it to be pretty darn affordable. The Zeta platform is going to be shared by a good amount of cars, and GM has so many different performance cars that a wide variety of powertrains can be offered without extra development. I mean the G8 GT is fairly loaded and comes in under $30,000, so if we assume there will be a base V8 with similar features as the G8 GT I think we can easily see it come in for a few grand lower than that as it is smaller and less luxurious than the G8. You can get a Mustang GT with leather, premium sound, satellite radio, performance gearing, upgrade interior, and various other small options for right around $30,000 MSRP, so I think it is safe to assume the base Camaro V8 at least will start significantly below $30,000.

Just a guess...but, that's what the GM in-the-knows are guessing...so that's my guess, too.
But I do want to make clear They didn't say Z28![]() Supposedly, there are plans tentatively to release with 2 V6's, and 1 V8. <= that was the 'high-end' they were both speaking of. NOT a 500hp GT-500 fighter. Plus Mr. Lutz said that between 20k for a base V6 to 30k for a decent V8 is where we're looking. Having said all that, yeah, I think that what Cheryl says definitely holds some merit....pretty much, because Cheryl said it

I think some of the error in the killer's estimates is that GM often provides many options like the RS option that would probably include the premium package along with the other RS options. It would probably not run more that 4000 because they can save money by offering fewer choices and saving assembly time. That would price a "base" RS for about 25-26K. That would be very competitive with the Mustang and the Camaro styling kicks Mustang's butt!!
Sadly I don't plan to buy one the first year. The PT Cruiser effect will be in full bore with ADMs of 10-15K and those idiots who pay that for them will loose their a$$ when they try to sell them later. |

What Pricing is expected for the 09 Camaro?
From what I have read GM is having a hard time getting the price of the V6 Camaro down to $26,000 -$30,000. The top Camaro is supposed to be in the $36,000+ range. Then add in the dealer markup and you’re talking $50,000 for the first ones.
Should Chevy save some money and drop the IRS? Maybe go with a cheaper Engine ? This was Ford's dilemma with the Mustang. Live Axle and Plastic Interior and skimping out on the "My Color" dash lights to only the gauges, saved on overall production costs. Whats your thoughts?

We have discussed this issue a lot on these forums, as far as price goes we have some ideas but nothings right to go by until GM announces MSRP for the Camaros. Personally I think what your saying may be a little too high. I'm sure GM will keep the price competitive with the Mustang, it will probably be just a little higher..

Well it being an import over here I'm not really concerned about the MSRP price, but rather the dealer markups. But my big buying argument is going to be "why should I buy this for way more when I can just drive on a bit further and buy a Mustang at the Ford dealer?". I'm never gonna do that, but they don't know that
I'm willing to accept some markup, but not anything like turning my orginally 30k Camaro into a 40k one.
