I GET A STEADY 25.5 MPG DRIVING TO/FROM WORK & ALSO DURING "PLAY". Most of my driving is on curvy & hilly Arkansas highways. I run premium fuel - 92 or higher octane - supposedly not "necessary" for the V6 LLT, but seems to run better & also I have heard about a lot of timing advance fluctuations when the V6's are run on the 87 octane gas. I figure if the timing is being adjusted to compensate for engine knock, the fuel needs to be higher octane. I may be wasting money, but it's mine to waste after all! I'm impressed with my V6 Camaro and still don't think the V8 is worth the extra 10K just for another 88 HP! I've hit over 140 (with more to spare) a couple of times & that's PLENTY fast for the roads around here.

Hey Retro XI,
I have a SS with 530HP at the flywheel and I get around 14mpg average per tank when driving aggressively, if I take it easy I get more like 17 mpg average. If your goal is to get the best mpg possible from your car you have to accelerate slowly and smoothly and coast as much as possible to save gas. Your car will get much better gas mileage when cruising at 65 mph on the highway. I'm not sure if you car is manual or auto, but if it's a manual you can shift from 1st to 3rd and then from 3rd to 5th to save gas. Always shift into 6th gear as soon as possible on the highway. Try to keep your rpms as low as possible to save gas. If your car is an auto, just accelerate slowly and keep your rpms low. Also a cold air intake will help to get just a little bit better gas mileage. After I installed a cold air inductions cold air intake on my SS I got about 1 mpg better for both city and highway. For your V6 camaro, the mpg increase will be larger with a cold air intake. Also, do not store extra junk in your car, the more stuff you keep in your car, the more weight it adds, which will equal lower mpg's. Also the mpg meter on the camaro is reading average mpg's, so if you reset it then it will read instantaneous mpg's, but that is only right after you reset it. Try out these tips and check your average mpg's and miles per tank of gas when you fill up at the gas station. Hope this helps!

Mine was less than $7k difference... About 1K for every second difference 0-60 VS a V6 (just kidding) I am just happy we have a camaro!

I have an LS3 with a big cam and supporting mods. I have also tuned out some of the MPG saver parameters (skipshift, etc.).

I calculated 19.6 mpg this morning on my last tank. This is about average for me (1/2 interstate, 1/2 backroads).

13-14 mpg is terrible... even for a full size truck. You may need to get it looked at by a pro.

Also, reset your milage when you fill up next time. Do this by pushing and holding the button in until it resets. Then it will start calculating from that time forward.

I have been averaging close to 22mpg with my SS. A lot depends how you drive. I roll on and roll off the throttle, Take my time rolling into stop lights, and generally, ease my baby around. However, when I want it and need it, its hammer time!

Old adage was to drive like you had a raw egg under your foot if you want to improve your gas mileage.

Old School thinking here.

thank you sir, i have took your advice and it has went from 14 to 16, so I'm hoping it can go from 16 to at least 18 and beyond. i do admit i did punch it off the line and well due to me being 21, i kinda sorta do like to speed/show off, so that was another reason it was drinking gas like crazy, but I've calmed that down ALOT and have saw slightly drastic improvements...another thing that helped was me getting on the freeway as much as possible, it took my mpg up even higher too compared to stop and go traffic.
