Poll: MPG V6

The EPA has listed the MPG for the automatic V-6 at 18 city / 29 highway. That's an average of 23.5 MPG.

I currently have a RAV4 which is rated at 19 / 24 for an average of 21.5 MPG. I have consistently gotten 27 MPG.

I'm going to buy a 2011 Camaro LS and want to get an idea about real world MPG. I owned a 1980 Camaro for 8 years that I've regretted selling. I'm comin' back home to Camaro!

Please vote on this poll for your overall average MPG if you own a V-6 2010 Camaro. I would have listed for the V-8 too but that would have allowed votes in two categories.

Most of my driving is around town so my overall average is low but on the highway I have averaged 30mpg.

I accelerate pretty fast (it's hard not to ), so I'm not exactly following best practices for getting good gas mileage. I think right now my rating is 18.7 or something, but if I were to stop with the fast accelerations, I'd probably be in the low 20s. Let's just say it's worth the extra gas money to me.

ouch... looks like most v6's so far are in the 21-22.9 range. I get that in my car - city/hwy combined.

Impressive...you must be doing lots of highway and lightfooting it if your real combined average is that.

Mine in my 1LT/RS is right about 23 MPGs, but I have gotten the advertised 29 on the highway, and I still think that is impressive for the power/weight of the car.

Drive close to the same on city/hwy. If I drive VERY spirited I'll get about 19.5mpg. If I drive like a grandmaw I get much more. One time I was able to get 32mpg from the gas station to my house 10 miles away including 2 red lights. The planets must have been aligned juuust right!

18 with about 95% city driving. I don't think I get on it too often (I'll accelerate quickly to 60 for fun once or twice on every tank) but I always try to keep RPMs low. How are you guys getting into the 20s? I wanna know your secrets!!!

Not too far off the avareage

I had originally posted -
The EPA has listed the MPG for the automatic V-6 at 18 city / 29 highway. That's an average of 23.5 MPG.

Doing a weighted average on the poll results so far,
with 52 people voting, the average is 22.6 MPG.

Most of the Camaro drivers posting comments have tended toward city driving. I drive 40 miles each way for work. Most of it is highway. I only get hung up in traffic for the last 5 miles.

I saw a commercial for the 2011 Mustang which they say gets 31 MPG highway. It's fun to see the heavy duty competition with Mustang trying to beat the Camaro's highway MPG by 2 and the Camaro beating the Mustang's HP by 1.

No doubt in my mind of who's the winner in this competition.
Camaro styling and engineering is the best.

I know you're asking for v6 mileage, but you mentioned v8 too, but not enough poll categories.

When I keep my foot out of it (w/ an occasional 5-6k pull in first) I'm getting 18mpg, about 90-95% city driving.

When we picked up our Camaro and drove it home from VA to NY (approx 300+ miles), we averaged 32mpg with the AC on all the way home, and varying the speeds...that was a 'brand new car' and it got great gas mileage even then!!!...we were very impressed!!!...

I usually average ~ 19-20mpg, because almost all of my driving is local, and stop and go traffic (Long Island traffic sux), plus I do accelerate like I 'stole it'...lol...so factor that in...

I have NO REGRETS with the V6...I would be in serious trouble if I had the 8...
