Why would you think that? The extra $10k+ is huge on a $31k car.

Once the initial group of people who really want this car are fulfilled, then the dealers ability to keep GOUGING the consumer will wane and sales will drop unless they drastically revise their pricing.
I was going to buy a 2SS but the bad pricing caused me to buy a new Corvette Grand Spot instead and I could not be happier |

hmm i was torn between the two ... you can see what i chose...
i got my camaro for a few reasons... its a new car, first year back since 02' when it was discnt.. makes it some what special its already been a huge sucess, yes there are a lot of them.. they may not be as rare as other cars but isnt it cool to be the part of GMs complete turn around?? a few months ago they were getting bialed out... now they cant make them fast enough... corvette is an icon... but why? is powerful, sporty, popular? what about the gen5 camaro?? i dont thnk you can get any more popular, sporty than that... anyway... C6 has not been a great model for Chevy sales have been slipping.. you can get a vett for cheap. i dont know how well a stock vett will hold its value unless is a special model like a z06... they are just very where, there is no excitement left. plus hasnt the camaro already won the title of best resale value? or something like that?? ppl are selling used ones the price of new, the projected value is 40+% after 5-6 yrs? maybe more... depending on the model and condition. this camaro is a icon. its a different level than the old models... its a step up.. a new era than just any pony car... IMO i think the camaro was the right choice for me.

My best friend has a C06 vette. We would have the best time with it. Then I finally decided to get a Camaro. He test drove it with me.
He is jealous.

Honestly i don't think you could go wrong with either car, it really depends on your needs. Having said that, i gotta admit that i really dig the new Camaro, that's why i am here. I have been contemplating getting one for a daily driver. I've had several Camaro's in the past including a 74, 89 RS, 89 IROC, 92 Z28, 93 Z28, 95Z, also a 99 & o2 TA. I have loved everyone of those cars in some way.
Back in 2004 i bought my first vette, a new spiral gray metallic coupe at the ripe old age of 32. The car was incredible and i liked it a lot better than any of my previous cars. The fit and finish was better than any of my old f cars and the personality was just different. Anyway i loved that car and put 60k miles on it before trading it last year for a new 09 cyber gray C6 coupe. I can honestly say the LS1, as good as it was, does not hold a candle to the LS3. I love the vette and even though i don't drive it everyday i enjoy every moment i am in it. No regrets... I also have a little Cobalt for a DD in bad weather, which we seem to have more than our fair share of here in Oklahoma. The Cobalt is actually a good little car for its intended purposes, but that's getting off topic. One day i would like to replace it with a Camaro, or if my better half pays of the Silverado i may take it and let her get the new Camaro!! Anyway, i guess you can clearly call me a fan of the new Camaro. Chevy got this one right and its a big hit. I think all of us can breathe a sigh of relief for that. Right now i think the Camaro is probably accounting for some of the vettes lost sales...which makes for a good deal for anyone who wants a new vette btw. Talked to my dealer yesterday and he has a brand new 09 Z06 on the showroom floor that he would sale for $61k. Now that's a DEAL....in case anyone is wondering that is over $16k off of sticker! Also my coworker just bought a new 2010 cyber gray ZR1, he traded his 09 Z06 in on that beast. What can i tell you about the ZR1? WOW! That's the only word that comes to mind when riding in the car. Everyone and i mean EVERYONE stares at you, like they cant believe what they are seeing. Other guys in vettes, Mustangs, Challengers, and yes Camaros gave us thumbs up Anyway, i know im rambling, but im new here so please forgive me. I'm just a car fan and i admire the Camaro for what it is just as much as i admire the vette for what it is. Guys get whatever you like, but take your time and check both models out. Also someone mentioned insurance...my six month premium for the Vette is only $405.39 which is a lot less than i used to pay for any of my other cars. Several factors go into that, i am over 35 with a clean driving record, also have my Cobalt and my house with the same company (state farm), and my vette is considered "limited use" or in other words i put 7500 miles per year or less on it. I'm currently sitting at just over 5000 miles and i bought the car on 4/25/09 so all is well there. My premium would only go up slightly if i took it off of limited use, i think the main factors are my age and driving record. I can remember back in the late 90's when i had as many tickets as i do fingers i was paying $3000 or more a year for insurance ! But that's my own stupid fault. Either way i don't think you could go wrong with a vette or camaro. They are both AWESOME cars! Drive one of each and figure out what your needs are...and follow your gut. You will have miles of enjoyment either way you go. Good luck!! ![]() Also i want to post some pictures of my old 04 vette and my new 09: ![]() ![]() ![]()

Just as a footnote, if you put a 1969 Camaro 396 and a 1969 427 vette on the auction block at Barrett Jackson which do you think would sell for more? Camaros can hold retail value with Corvettes, and likely will more than ever after 2014. For performance the vette wins hands down, every day. Camaro lets you do more and still look cool.

If you need a back seat, then Camaro.
If you don't, then Corvette. There's ZERO ways to justify Camaro over Corvette if performance matters and you don't need a back seat.

Interesting Topic
I just got my 2010 2SS... traded in my 2007 C6 for it... why?
First let me state two things, my 07 C6 was a daily driver - 59,218 miles @ trade-in. 2nd, please don't see this as bragging, but I also have a 09 C6. The 09, my wife drives one day a week to work, and we take to car shows - tricked out in chrome... So, having driven Corvettes basically every year since I was 16, I still get to when I want too, but honestly I am ready for a change... My dream car has always been a 68/69 Camaro SS. When I was 16, I drove my dad's vettes, but my first car was an 83 Camaro SS... So I have truly been a fan of both cars, and owned both.. I think the new Camaro's looks are awesome - very aggressive almost mean looking. Chevy taking them off the lineup for so long, has created a great desire to seem them re-introduced... all of the young baby-boomers, and early GenX's are all going, "Oh, man that looks hot!" So, I thought, why not get one... replace the daily driver vette for a couple of years... (at least until the C7's come out in 2013 ... Let me say that Corvettes are the true American Sports Car... Camaro to me is the true American Muscle Car... So in regards to this thread, which to choose... If you want to drive a car that always turns heads, always getting asked "want to trade, what are you doing driving my car", etc etc... get a vette... join a Vette club, go on a cruise with 30-50 other vettes and experience the Corvette Owner's Chevy Attitude - be sure to waive at the other vettes you come across as you drive... But, if you plan on taking it to the track... go with the Camaro... Corvettes are not made for the drag strip, their rear-ends are very weak in regards to pushing them hard at launches... my "old" C6, I had a lot of professional work done to it, and had over 525 HP under the hood... without N2O, a Turbo, or a Super Charger.. it was still a slug off the line compared to a couple of cars that I have had in the past... 72 Pontiac GTO, 75 Nova (Drag Car), 83 Camaro SS... |
