K, now it gave me an authorization number. It doesn't tell me what the discount will be nor did i have to build the specific car. Is this correct? I saw a few members listed their potential savings. How do I find that out?

That is correct. You now have authorization for supplier pricing. That is a separate line which will be on the dealer invoice for your vehicle. How much the discount is depends on what you order. On a full blown 2SS, it's around $1500 if I remember correctly. MAKE SURE the dealer you choose agrees IN WRITING FROM THE SALES MANAGER (not the salesman) to honor the discount. Dealers do NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT have to honor it if they choose.

Got it. Thanks again. went to the build link on that credit union incentive page came out to 1,172.00 not bad. Spoke to the salesman today, he knew nothing about it. I even told him they didn't have to honor it. He said he will get me anything that "i am entitled to." we will see about that tomorrow.

I also have a GM Graduate discount with authorization. When I gave my deposit, I mentioned this authorization and the dealer did not think GM was offering on the 2010's, but said he would check. I have copies which I will bring to closing in a few days. I will not push it, I will just hand copies of each page I printed showing the 2010 Camaro on the list with all the pages after that and my required paperwork which GM said to bring. If they do not take it, I will be happy to get the car at MSRP and drive away. But I will also show that I submitted my request to GM and was approved, something which I think the dealership should recognize with some sort of discount.

I just went and got my authorization code. I left a message for the finance guy at my dealership and am awaiting a call back. Is there anyone here that bought their Camaro at Gunn Chevrolet in San Antonio and received the discount?
Thanks! |

I contacted every dealer in Utah and quite a few in the surrounding states to find a dealer that would honor this discount. Let me tell you there are more greedy dealers then there are ones willing to make good customer relationships. It took two weeks of phone calls, faxes and emails, but I finally found a dealership willing to go the extra mile. These are the kind of people I like doing business with.

JProberts, I too have asked many dealers to honor the CU discount, but they decline.
It kills me that it is offered yet no one honors it. Dealers know I want a SS and they have called me on the ones that come in that the sale never materialized, but I will not buy until they honor the CU price. So in my case. I am finding out that as the longer I wait, the shock and awe of the car is diminishing. Eventually the price will come down and or you will see used ones on the market that did not meet customers expectations. It will also become as common as the Mustang. I know GM does not care about my single purchase, but at least I know I wasn't taken advantage. Some of the dealers state they will honor the discounts at the time of delivery, but no one has been able to tell me if the CU price is one of those discounts. I think the salesman are thinking it is the GMS discount I am refering. Good Luck with your quest. |
