Credit Union Discount

Has anyone used the credit union discount and how much was it worth?

Haven't used mine yet, but expect it to be about $900-$930, depending on if the dealer will give me the price protection. Supposed to be the same as supplier pricing. You can calculate it by your particular build at this site: http://prod3.gmautobuilder.com/Build...riceformula=CO

Thanks for the insight. That was more than I thought it would be...

My dad is the manager of a credit union and signed me up at gm.com/creditunion. After you sign up you get an authorization number to show your dealer as proof of membership. You get supplier pricing as a discount.

The catch is if your dealer will participate or not. My dealer said that they won't do it for the 2010 models. Dealer participation is voluntary.

Yeah, if you are a member of a participating credit union, you can get a discount authorization here:

I'm confused, is this a discount you can get if you are the member of any credit union?

As long as it's on the list when you sign up. You will get the discount code right away (they'll also e-mail it to you). Just take that code into your dealer and you get Supplier pricing (as long as they are accepting discounts).

The Scoop

I registered. Printed out the Authorization Number. Then, printed the rules. The disclaimer is, "DEALER PARTICIPATION IS VOLUNTARY. DEALER(S) ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GM CU MEMBER DISCOUT PROGRAM. TO DETERMINE A DEALER'S WILLINGNESS TO SELL VEHICLES UNDER "THE PROGRAM", YOU MUST SPEAK WITH THE DEALER DIRECTLY."

So, before you go through the whole process, ping your dealer first.

Regards,

Vince

Hold on... whats the catch here? Are you telling me I can just go register at Gm.com/creditunion and get a authorization code for a GM Discount? How do you become a member of a credit union? Do you have to work there? Take out a 20k loan? Whats the deal

You have to be a member to get the discount. You'll need the authorization code and proof of membership (ID Card, Voided Check, etc.).

Membership criteria is different for each credit union. Mine, for example, has a list of companies that make you eligible if you work there. Check with your local credit unions to see what their rules are.
