So it is ok to run the breather with no check valve? It's ok for air to go in or out of the crankcase as it pleases? I keep reading about unmetered air but don't fully understand the evac system as well as I would like..

And it's an RX catch can that came with the kit so that's what I'm going to run for now. I've been running an RX can for the last 30k and it seems to have done well it catches oil and it looks like regular oil not the baby poop I see in a lot of cans.. don't know if that's a good thing or not though.

Yes you can run it without the check valve and it will run better than with it in. It will cause pressure to build up and at time cause your dip stick to rattle or even pop out the tubing. I used to run a breather till Matt (FSP) told me it was what was causing my engine to act like it's straining. Myself and a few others started to notice power loss also. You can just put your regular oil cap back on but some that had problems with the breather liked to the look so left it with no valve. Down side of running with no valve is that at times you could smell exhaust or oil fumes in the cab.

Also when you get a chance get you a Mighty Mouse Boost catch can with the check valve. The RX can allows for to much blow by under boost. Ask others about the RX cans and using breathers with FI they can back me up.

i know that on LFX engines (at least the ones we've done in house) if you don't put a breather on it, it will start making squeaking noises

yes, Mightymouse makes one of the best cans for FI, one way vent out and check vales, all custom designed for your needs. It just plain works. If you want a breather cap, Mightymouse has one of those too, allows no pressurization and 1 way vent out, no unmetered air in. Unmetered air can cause a lean condition I suppose as more air is coming in than accounted for.

so what happened to RX? i thought they were pioneers in the V6 stuff for awhile. that is why we went with their catch can in the first place.

To sum it up quickly RX died. They made some hack cars. Lot's of money issues.

i don't mind revising the kit to include a different catch can setup but i am not sure of options and what's out there.

I called MM, told him my setup, He told me to use the CC with the breather. I asked him about added a second CC on the line going to the air inlet, He said that's not necessary but wouldn't hurt. I then asked him about using a breather on the oil filler cap, he said not to do this because it's a closed system. I know a lot of the people with FI have had stalling issues, I have had my system over a year and have never had a idling problem
