Derin11, so, I thought you sold your V6 Camaro for $27k and bought a 1SS? What happened?

Thanks. I live in SoCal and they are marked up everywhere I look, if I can even find an SS on the lot. Worst markup I saw was one for $54k

What puzzles me is that you drive a 300C, Evo, Mustang GT, BMW's and then turn around and have little concept of the performance of the Camaro V-6, even though that info has been readily available for many, many months.

Seems, like you have a predilection for higher performance automobiles. But you turn around and buy a V-6 ,then complain about it's performance.

Add to this the money involved with this and it sure makes one wonder. Not too many people are willing to take that kind of financial hit so soon after buying any vehicle , let alone a Camaro.

That's why there are so many here who have a hard time taking this all in.

As I said earlier, you have to do what you have to do. Find the car that best suits your taste and go with it.

You have a cool car. (going 0-60 in four seconds is not that big a deal. we still strive on old crappy technology - combustion engine/caveman/retarded technology/fossil fuels/. Your new car is ancient. and no one cares how fast you can go. you just think they do.

However your car is a compromise. all cars have quirks. ESPECIALLY mustang fox bodies. (had one)

Your car can get you where you need to go and look cool at the same time. You should have respect for the engineering that went into that car. You have IRS. I assume you have the DI V6. There should be a tight rack-and-pinion steering rack. you can fit huge rims on it. it has gigantic quarter panels. If you don't want it give it to someone who does.

Adios

I understand your problem, I have purchased the smaller engine models before to only INITIALLY regret it later.

Couple things to consider if you havent already. There were reasons you chose the base v6 to begin with (better ride, gas, less ins ). You sure in a couple months you wont have settled into the car and they wont bother you so much?

A 6.0 sec car, while not a speed demon, is not really that slow and the car looks great. There are a couple minor performance things that could be done ( air, exhaust, strip some weight, shocks/springs, tie bars ) to get it in the 5's and handle better. The great thing is it is a GM and not BMW so this wouldnt cost a arm and leg. Not really that bad considering it would still be a easy car to live with as a DD and would cost about what you will lose trading it.

If you have to take the beating and get rid of it. Life is too short to let things bother you. Find another car that will make you happy.

The dealer is trying to persuade me with one of the SS they just got in, but they want $43k for it. For that money, I can get into a nicer car. What happened to the bang for the buck the Camaro used to be? Also not happy with the performance times I got. 6.1 0-60 and 14.9 for the quarter. Those were the times I could get in my 98 Mustang GT with 75 less HP. Maybe I am just expecting too much from the entry level version. We'll see.
umm, how are you returning your Camaro if you live in California? There is no cooling off period in CA. Once you buy it, it's yours. (Barring lemons).

Good point, I was wondering the same thing.

You know, if you're really not happy with your V6 you could always buy a nitrous kit for it.

Zex makes one - 55 horsepower for 700 dollars. It may not be enough to match an SS (though with intake, headers, cat-back, and a tune (once tunes become available) that would probably be a different story.)

yeah, we've got some high markups on the east coast too.

best advice I can give you is to check our dealer threads as we have a lot of great dealers on here from all over the states who will not charge over MSRP and will drop ship to your town.

211269-

Its your car and your choice, but honestly how did you think this was going to go?????

You posted up a thread that basically sounds like you are pissing and moaning about a car that just about EVERY SINGLE person on this forum is either thrilled with getting, or can't wait to get theirs. So you not only don't have people that agree with you, but what you are saying will most likely be taken by most of these people as an attack, or some kind of stunt by you to seem better than the rest of us.
So again, I ask what did you expect to happen? Either you thought about it and had the wrong idea, which you were quickly corrected about, or you didnt think about it before you posted and now you know. Either way, you stated your opinion, and you received input and other opinions and whether you like it or not that is how these people feel.

Good luck with what you decide to do.

With that said the V6 is still great bang for your buck and you can mod it and make it faster. Also you compared to a mustang gt that was fords v8 and at least chevys heavier v6 is running the same times. If your not happy how long have you had it? Even if you had it since march when produciton started thats not a whole lot of time, but maybe you shouldn't of gotten one to start with. Good luck whatever you decide.
DITTO!! My 2SS/RS was 37340 before tax and license, had a markup but not much. With all the articles and reviews, how could you not know what you were getting??? I didn't even sit in one until I picked mine up last night, it's everything I expected and more!

Just FYI, my dealer was telling me that every type of Camaro he had was flying out of his dealership almost the day they got them. So when a customer cancelled on a 2LT, they just marked it up all to hell in order to keep it to show buyers, and for test drives. He said he'd be too embarassed to actually sell it at that price.

I suspect that one marked up to $54k is done so for similar reasons. You could always try contacting them to see if they'd let it go for MSRP and see what they say.
