ok....

edit: he absolutely insisted they would NOT do a Z28.
He paused smirked and added emphasis.....

Understand GM is VERY traumatized by the failure of the GTO (name) and are going to be VERY selective of the future naming conventions...they like 3 letter combos that won't mean much to anybody. but some are sacred and the Z28 is one of the sacred combo's.

So, I'm wondering if you recorded this conversation? Cus if you did, you are sitting on a little gold mine!!!

I really hope you can get some money out of this. You are in Mr. Welburn's inner circle with precious information the entire Camaro world has been waiting to hear.

You should probably hurry before someone beats you to the punch. I've been looking, and no one has broken this news anywhere. You are the only one who has such a detailed recollection of his statements, in addition to being the only one who grasped its importance. Which is shown in your desire to post it in not one, but two, online forums.

I'm a little confused though. You said on the GTO forum that you got to ask a couple questions. Yet, here you say you only asked one. And further more, as of this post, you have given three different versions of his answer to your one, or was it a couple, questions.

Anyway, you better get hot on getting this globally news worthy story to the rest of the world. I expect this should be home page news for Camaro5 since you broke the story here first.....

Hmm I wonder why it isn't there.... Anyway I guess I should be thanking your for thinking of us first. OH wait. You posted it on the GTO site first... Edit: On the 16th of July. Over two weeks ago.

Be right back....

Nope, not on their home page either... That's a bummer.

Keep us posted as to how this works out for you.

what part of ctsv do you not see?

and this is on about 4 or 5 forums (from me)

I did not ask the z28 question..someone else incorporated it into a multi part question of their own.

Like I said..."I'm just sharing"

I know what he said and he said it with conviction.

Z28 = Not dead. Perhaps delayed, perhaps slid back, perhaps refocused. All we know is that we're not getting one now. But it's certainly not DEAD. You must have misunderstood him somehow (confusion of the "multi-part question", maybe?). Or taken it out of context like LLN did with Cheryl Pilcher......

he immediately went into the "volt" and hybrid gas high performance stance.

Society is going to have to show a different face.
They (GM) WILL NOT stand for an ill received Z28.
GM would rather not produce it. or risk it.
It seems like we slapped them around on the GTO name thing (and other things I'm sure).... and THEY are still flinching. twitching...stinging

Now THAT is JMO. (derived from watching him and listening)

I have very loose connections, but the ones I do have been saying the same thing the Z28 is dead. Now, just cause we keep it a live in thought to me does not qualify it as a live. If they do not have plans as of now to make the Z28 within the next two models year, than I am sorry my friends it is dead at least for the moment. Now I am not being negative, cause I too want to see it hit the streets once again. I hope that this is just a great ploy and misleading by GM to stun and shock us all! PLEASE MAKE IT GM!

Ok. Thanks for sharing. All my relatives are alive and kicking here. You believe it's dead. We believe it's been put off....for a better lack of words.

If you didn't notice, Cheryl was quoted as saying there will be no Z28. The entire Camaro community world had a heart attack and time stood still.

Days went by and it was anarchy amongst the boards. Then, Scott came in and put all the fires to rest saying he "couldn't comment about future projects." So.....could it be in GM's future" Sure!

Again, many GM folks have said there is no Z28 planned at the start of production. And there has been NO information released regarding what engine may or may not be in it. So we have been using this thread to speculate on what it may be should GM determine the Z28 is going to be produced.

So, in reality I'm not disputing what you're claiming here. I'm just questioning the finality of it. You quote Mr.Welburn as saying "no supercharged motor for the camaro" and "no Z28 period"

I am still of the position that you misunderstood him. I'm basing that on the fact that more than a few GM officials have said no Z28 at the start of regular production. None of them have ever said "no Z28 ever" or "no supercharged camaro ever"

You don't work for GM. You don't represent GM. You were given the opportunity to ask Mr. Welburn one off the cuff question and he gave you an off the cuff answer.

When someone from GM confirms what you claim to be fact then I'll believe you. Unless of course you can get your story published. Because, I don't think you truly understand the fallout of what you are saying. The 5th gen community has closely followed the prospect of a Z28. To include most of the relevant automobile press. If you do even a little research, I think you'd quickly see how valuable the story you have could be for you.

This thread may help you understand the impact if what you claim and how you quote Mr. Welburn is true and accurate.

Without confirmation or a published story, I choose to relish in the prospect of what the Z28 or a supercharged camaro might be.

X2 While I don't question the validity yet, it doesn't quite seem completely final, perse. Look what happened when I believe Ms. Pilcher was asked about the Z28. It was completely taken out of context. Anyway, if you are trying to post a letter or message, it would seem that the grammar in those messages from GM would be at least correct. I don't know if you're just trying to shorthand it, or quote directly, but it just brings questions to your statements to mind. Yeah, as minor as they really are, I just don't want to believe you.

What do you mean by this exaclty? Like, did he smerk like, "No; we aren't doing a Z28 - wink wink nudge nudge."

Regarding the GTO, it was really nothing like the GTOs of the past. There were hardly styling cues I could easily recognize and distinguish as GTO-styles from the past. IMHO, it was these factors in addition to dealers completely raping (I do not mean to deminish the actual meaning of this phrase) buyers by adding mark-ups. It's no wonder they weren't more popular! I don't think that is a fair comparison...
