P.S. Note the brand of car that uses this type of roof... not exactly a prestigious make/model.
Chevy's not exactly a prestigious make either.
Maybe if this was on a Cadillac, then you'd have a point.

LOL

I don't want to ignore him. He's entitled to his opinion, he just needs to learn how to temper himself so it doesn't come across as incessant whining.

I really liked that multi panel sunroof on the G6. That would have been nice, but didn't they stop using it on the G6 for some reason?

I take it your last convertible was a 1985 Sunfire?

I don't think the G6 sunroof looks any better than the Camaro's. It looks like the same thing, but since the G6's roof is bigger, it has to fold back on itself. For all the examples people provided of the roof sliding straight back and inside, it seems those roofs were bigger and flatter than the Camaro's. Remember, this is a midsize coupe, so the top of the roof is pretty small to begin with, and it slopes down. I'm not saying it couldn't be done, but it would probably be very difficult, very expensive, and take away headroom. I don't need much, but I understand this car will be sold to those who do. Really, I doubt I'll fully open the roof very often anyway. Most of the time it will be fully shut, or the shade will be open, or the back will be popped into vent mode. I just want the added openness and light of a glass roof and the ability to add a little extra venting.

You don't like something? Ok, that's cool. You're more than welcome to your opinion. But there's no need to insert the complaints in nearly every comment you make. We KNOW you don't like certain elements already.

I'm far from closed minded, I just find the constant repeating of complaints to be a bit juvenile.
I never said you or anyone else was closed minded. I don't like calling people names.

One thing you have to realize is that most of my comments are in response to some contrary argument someone else is making which may need clarification.

For example, a lot of people have been trying to say that I should accept the roof the way it is because if they made it retract into the roof then the tall drivers would have to suffer. After checking and measuring several examples of sunroofs I am happy to report that those people are actually 100% wrong.

In comparing cars with sunroofs, the distance from the seat to the headliner is actually LESS than the distance between the seat and the glass of the sunroof (with the nice internal roof type).

Normally, the headliner pillows down from the roof structure and has foam between it and the sheetmetal, but on these sunroof cars the only thing between your head and th outside is a thin piece of glass. Therefore, with the internal sliding sunroof option the tall driver actually gets MORE HEADROOM.

Generally, there's a small hump about the size of a VHS tape in front of the roof near the rearview mirror and a little less headroom for the REAR seat passengers, but since most of us would only ask small children to ride back there this is not a major problem. Overall, the front seat passengers can actually be taller in the car with the sunroof!

Call it "incessant whining" if you want. I just call it "fact checking".

I apologize for not tempering myself enough but you have to understand that winning an "8 vs. 1" debate takes a lot of effort if you're the "1", even if you're on the side that's right.

But did those other cars have roofs like the Camaro's? It seems to me that there just isn't much flat space behind the sunroof opening to fit the glass in the retracted position. This is easy to do on say, a Hummer, but harder when dealing with a coupe body style.

You know something... I just went back and looked at the photos again to see if I could spot the flat space and I actually think after looking at the thing again that it's not that the glass is outside that bugs me. It's the fact that the glass comes out and sticks up at an odd angle!

If you look at it I think it would look MUCH better if the glass rolled back and followed the angle of the roofline.

The way it is now, the thing sticks up like the pull-tab on a soda can.

If it were flat to the top of the roof as it retracts, it would look a whole lot nicer. I could live with it like that.
