If I am wrong and what you say is true that the 2011 mustang GT will have a 425hp V8 and get better gas mileage with a 3600lb curb weight I will glady eat my words, though I want to see some specs and Diagrams on how in the world Ford pulled it off.
That's the beauty of all of this. In less than a year Ford will announce specs for the 5.0L 2011 Mustang GT and you'll get to see firsthand if what I say is accurate....I'll still be here.

Back when the 2005 redisign mustang was looming, rumors was that the 5.0 v8 was going to come back, Did it? NO!! there was hype for the 2008 Mustang, what happen? Nothing. 2009 again nothing. Now Ford fanboys FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR was screaming on the internet that the mustang will get the mystical 5.0 400 hp v8 in the 2010 mustang. (Although no 5.0 v8 exist in any ford products on planet earth). For 2010 mustang only gets the 315hp v8 from the mustang Bullit!!!! thats a measley 15hp increase. Are we seeing a trend here people? Ford has release their power train plans which shows that they are focusing on Ecoboost, not V8's. Also there is no way that a 5.0 400hp DOHC V8 with a 7000 rpm redline can make the fuel mileage needed to contribute to fords CAFE score. Gm has the advantage in this area with old fashion torque combined with gearing. I would not be surprised that by 2012 which is when the mustang gets a major overhaul that it will not even offer a V8, besides special editions. By the way the Camaro is going to pown the compition for the forseeable future and thats the truth.
Your a fool if you think MOPAR and Ford are just going to let GM take the cake. GM might not even live long enough for the Camaro to even be released let alone take out all the competition. Like usual at least for the 2010 model year the Camaro will be powerful but no where near the amount of Mustangs on the street but when we are on the street we will make our presence known. The SS seems promising with some 400HP or 420HP but the V6 has some 300 but only some 260 foot pounds of torque...The SS is where its at. Hopefully the government will give GM the bailout we need to survive.

The other 2 aren't doing any better financially right now. The V6 has 273 ftlbs, which is still substantially less than the mustang GT, and has to move a car that weighs a couple hundred pounds more.

Why in the world do people keep comparing the camaro V6 to the mustang GT, please pay attention to a small revelation you are not aware of.... ahem.... THE CAMARO V6 IS NOT COMPETING AGAINST THE MUSTANG GT, BUT THE MUSTANG V6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My goodness how is it a bad thing that the BASE CAMARO have 304hp!!! It just goes to show that mustang owners are jealous that GM refused to give its customers a crappy subpar Base model, but made the camaro V6 a cheap G37. So don't be mad at GM for makeing the Camaro V6 a compentant car in its own, Be mad a Ford for making the V6 Mustang a joke in the automotive industry and thats the truth.

look come on over to any mustang forums...we don't talk bad about the camaro, why bash the mustang...GM left you camaro guys high and dry when they stop making the camaro because they did not care about you camaro fans.and if it were not for the sales of the mustang do you think GM would still come out with the new camaro..........NO! so the next time you see someone driving the mustang, thank them for fueling GM's idea to bring back the camaro.Mustang 1964 thur 2010 ford never stop production, because they sale the real pony car.

Ummm, isn't this exactly the engine the new 2010 Mustang is gong to have??? All the major changes have been in the looks and quality of interior dept... You should come back on here and apologize... So are you NOT going to get a mustang GT now that you know it will be spanked by the new 2010 Camaro SS on a track and in a straight line?

The Camaro had me at "Hello" when I first saw it in Transformers with the nice paint job. I didn't like the concept as much in silver when it was first introduced.

Inexpensive is a better word. I priced a G37 with the 6M, and it was over $40K without NAV. Holy cr@p!! I had no idea the prices had gone up so much.

Not being a Ford fan by any means, that new Mustang design looks better IMO than the current model, but the idea that the upcoming model years will get a bigger increase in power makes buying the 2010 a hard decision for those Ford lovers.

I'll give you one simple reason - $$$$.

The Mustang has always done well in the V6 space simply because they sell them for less. Better, faster, more high-tech...doesn't really come into the picture when people are buying V6 Mustangs. Price is really the driver in that space, not value.

Not to hi jack this thread or anything, but last night on Speed tv I saw the 2010 Mustang GT. They said that is will have the 4.6L 3V, with a special intake (I believe) that will have 315 bhp and 325tq. Mustang owners will have the choice of one of two choices when ordering the option "power packs:" a 400hp or a 500hp supercharged Mustang. Oh yeah, the interior is supposed to be much better as far as materials are concerned. Ok, I'm done.

I keep hearing Mustang owners bragging that if it was not for the mustang than there would not be a camaro, While true, Have any mustang fans ever considered that if it was not for the camaro then there would not be a supposed 5.0 400 hp mustang next year!!! Nor would there be Power packages for the 2010 mustang. In other words if it was not for the camaro ford would have not upgraded the mustang performance. So it is a wash, competition is a good thing for consumers.
