Even if they go with another hood from this one, it won't feature a functional hood scoop or anything besides different appearance

I'm not saying the picture is fake, or even that the test mule in the picture doesn't have a 6.2L supercharged V8 under the hood, but this is not remotely any sort of confirmation that an LSA-powered Z28 will be sold as a 2012 model.

There's no indication of the year at all (2012 is a good guess, but it could easily be 2013).

There's no indication that the pictured car is testing for the purpose of being the next Z28 (it could be a ZL1 or any number of other things).

It could be an LS9 (unlikely) or even some other yet-unknown 6.2L supercharged V8.

GM could test for a month or two and then decide that the Z28 should get some other motor instead (I'm hoping for a mass-production version of the LS7, personally).

It's exciting to see -- don't get me wrong -- but this is a LONG way off from a "confirmed" 2012 Z28.
Well, if your car was in a GM convoy, complete with engineers, with a GT500 in tow and the pictures were taken by a reputable spyshot photographer ...

Besides, its practically been confirmed several times that the Z28 will have a supercharged 6.2L and will be a 2012 model.

The only thing that's a real give-away is the wheels but you'll have people putting those on SS's in no time.

I guess all I'm saying is I thought they did such a great job in '07 when the C6 Z06 came out by making it look MEAN and special compared to a base Corvette. I was hoping for some similar treatment for the Z28. The wide flares for the rear wheels especially made that car look special IMHO.
Z28's are all about form over function ...

Wouldn't surprise me if there are other CTS-V parts used on the Z28

If you think that the new Z28 is just a supercharger and a few badges, you're sadly mistaken

You joined the site years before you could order any 5th gen ...

If you can add a supercharger, tear out your suspension and replace it with a better one, rip out/replace your exhaust, install new brakes, wheels, and tires, and add Z28 badges, then there's no big deal.

It'll be an interesting comparison for sure. The GT500 is an absolutely stunning machine in SVTPP form...handling, steering, sound, etc...so hopefully GM answers with that level of tuning.

However, last week, GM announced the new supercharger, GM backed for $7500 and reportedly good for 650+ bhp.

I have had my 2011 2SS for 3 weeks, and I know what I would rather do, and that is get that GM backed badboy on there for $7500, rather than lose out on the depreciation of my 2011 already, and then add yet more money to the price for a Z28, which guesstimations suggest will be mid to high $40's...

That's just me. I just kinda see GM backing themselves into an odd corner with this one. Please don't get me wrong, it is a very nice car, has all the heritage and history and I am not knocking that for one minute.

I just feel the 2SS with the GM supercharger gives you the best bang for the buck in this instance.

Go back and read that thread. To actually make that installation you will spend over $10K. And you don't get the wheels, tires, brakes, and all the other goodies that come with the Z28....

I see it around the GT500 price range but above. Which is out of my price range after its all said and done. I wonder if they are going to come with the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. But to be honest with you the Corvette ZR1 has a price tag of $108,180 so would it be far fetched to see the Camaro reaching into the 60's?

Looks like an SS with a couple Bumble Bee dents in the front. I hope it's more than that.

@DG, that is not a GT500 in the spyshot. Wrong wheels, spoiler, no Shelby lettering, rear diffuser, etc.

Why would it come with less of a warranty than the ZR1 or CTS-V?
