I think it is too much of a niche car for the current economic and POLITICAL situation. The folks at GM have said as much.

Current LS-7 or Gen V equivalent of the Z06 powerplant is the likely Z28 engine...probably without the dry sump if I had to speculate. The LS-7 is just a logical step forward.

Supercharged LS-9/Z-28, if built would be a very low production car....CAFE/Gas Guzzler Tax probably kills this idea. Still...we all would like to see it built!

Both quoted for truth. I'd like to see:

LS-7 Z/28
LSA ZL-1

A Z/28 has never had FI. Nor should it ever. The ZL-1 was the top dawg back then, even if there were only 69 built.

Kind of hard to argue with this....A big N/A motor sounds the best too.

As we have already confirmed, this is quite a powerplant, delivering 556 horsepower at 6100 rpm and 551 pound-feet of torque at 3800 rpm. The Z/28 will also share the CTS-Vs six speed manual and automatic transmissions."

you didn't really just quote that stupid article...

the ZL1 had an aluminum 427 which is soon to be discontinued... so that wouldn't be correct by your standards either

Come on guys.... the motor in the CTS-v is not taxed under the gas guzzler tax nor is the current Z06. The supercharged motor parts are cheaper to build then the LS7, Why dont you think they didnt put the LS7 in the CTS-V like the earlier CTS'
(they all had LS6 power)

um... the LS6 CTS-Vs had the current Z06 engine. when the vettes were updated, they got the newer, equally powerful engine

unless you're saying that in reference to how expensive the LS7 is to build

OMG 400 HP not enough?

99% of people asking for Z28 could not afford to buy a new one if it was above the SS trim level, which was a mistake to ever let happen in the first place.

It might surprise you Vash what people are willing to spend. 500hp is the bench mark untill the government steps in agian like they did in the late 60's early 70's.

GM PERFORMANCE PARTS ANNOUNCES IMMEDIATE AVAILABILITY AND PRICING FOR LS9 CRATE ENGINE

GRAND BLANC, Mich. – GM Performance Parts (GMPP) announced today that the new LS9 crate engine is available for immediate ordering – earlier than previously announced. It will carry a MSRP of $35,715.

Street price for the LS9 crate engine is around $25k. We are currently supplied about 3/week, and we are backordered. However, your top GMPP dealers can get you on the list to get one when they become available. We'll be releasing the LSA shortly with a few parts you'll need if you want to build your own. Of course, LS7s are available already.

Stay tuned to GMPerformanceParts.com for the new Camaro page that should launch this week.

Looking forward to helping you make your new Camaro as fast as you want it to be ....

I think it's safe to say 99% of everyone on this forum would like for a Z/28 model to exist.

I think a better poll would be "Who would actually BUY a Z/28." I'm going to guess not everyone on here could afford one. I know I can't. It seems most people just want for the Camaro to be the top pony car, but actually have no real interest in, or means to, buy one.
