Spam!

There's too much spam on this site! Isn't there a hack or two to keep this from happening?

This is definitely an odd occurrance. Anybody who's been here a while can tell you that we get the occasional spam...but I've never seen that much before.

Yeah...we usually don't get that much spam. The most important thing is to ban the new spammer before they get to make umpteen threads. If not, there's just that much work for us to take care of.

On a side note, whenever ya'll see those spam threads, please report the post on that little exclamation red/white triangle thing underneath the users info. That lets us know we need to fix something or take a look at someones post. It gets us there that much quicker so you don't have to read all the spam. Thanks again, guys.

Well, I do have to say you guys do a much better job at catching and taking care of spam than most moderators at other sites, so I want to thank you for your diligence. Yes, I think this is just a random upswing, as we usually see very little spam around here. Sometimes though when one finds you, you just get flooded for a while, then they all move on. I know I'll have days where I'll get 50 spam messages on myspace, and then a few days later I have no spam for another 6 months.

There really isn't that much spam here. Most of it is deleted before anyone even knows it was here.

I don't think there could be any more filters one could install to keep out the spam either. In order to sign up on the site, you need to be able to read that code in the box, type it in, and sign up. I don't see how a bot could do that to post up spam. Anyone finding the site can simply join up and do the same.

Yeah, I've never noticed a single spam message on this site. That's one of the things I like about this forum (other than the topic ) It's very clean!

Yeah, to also commend the legit membership, there is remarkably little in-fighting and flaming here. There are some disagreements that flare up every now and then, but nothing compared to other sites. You guys are the best!

No... at best, it'd be a waste of your energy typing it up. 's not gonna stop the rest from logging on.

And if you notice.... It's gone.

btw, thanks for the compliments everybody. It's nice to know that folks like it around here.
