Venting about classes
So classes start again today, and my first class was Information Systems. The prof could be a character straight out of "The Office". Its just horrible. Attendance is mandatory and graded, and that grade makes up 1/4 of our final grade. Are we in kindergarten again? And we're going to learn all sorts of exciting and complex tasks like putting data into excel and making a sum. And all this in an 8:00 AM class. Yay!

OOh I hate those computer classes where they go really slow. And then some girl is like, "Wait, can you go back?" or "SLOW DOWN!". F**k.
Where do you go to school? I'm kinda surprised you're going back a little early. Mine start the 14th. |

Hey, If you guys would like some help, let me know. I'm not a super developer but I am pretty sure I can help if you'd like. Been working in IT now for over 10yrs. Everything from networking to client -server to web development (.net mostly) I'm a project manager now so I'm not as proficient as I used to be. For what it's worth.
Let me know.

My classes started monday. This semester looks like it will be relatively fun. I say relatively because not too many would consider electromechanical energy conversions, engineering ethics, and advanced mechatronics fun.
So far all my profs are good, I had my ethics prof last year for economics, and I've had my advanced mech prof a few times. The prof for EMEcon seems kinda cool, a guy with a doctorate in engineering who talks like a mechanic. I still have to meet my psychology prof, and my other course doesn't really have lectures (design thesis). all in all, a good semester

You want fun? Wait until you get out of school and have 1 wife, 3 kids, 2 pets, 1 house and a car habit to pay for on 1 income.
Ah, the days of being in college. If I only knew how easy I had it then. BTW, I did work full time when I went to college full time. Looking back, it was a pretty simple life. Kidding aside, I enjoy everything I have, all responsibilities included. |

I go to school with kids (I'm 27 and just now finishing my associates). I went for the career before school, but now I'm working on that peice of paper. But like you I enjoy it.. now if I could just get enough money together to pay for my bachelors I'd be set...

I also have a health class, but the prof seems pretty good for that one. Then I have two econ classes with a professor I've had before and he's one of my favorites, so that should be good. Then I have international business, which should be a hard class but I hear the prof is good and it fulfills two requirements. I'm also working 22 hours a week and planning a wedding. So I'm not as busy as many of you (God bless you) but I have a bit on my plate. Good times. I will miss college in the end I think.

Our PD will pay for us to go to college and get our degree if we wish. All A's equals full pay from the city. Once we are done w/ classes, we begin to get the incentive pay.
Assoc degree = $160 month Bach degree = $310 month (or 320...not sure...) The city will also pay for us to get our masters, but the return for having the Masters in pay is really not that much....no great incentive. Now, if they paid $300 per month on top of the $310 a month I get for my BA, I'd def. get it. I'm just SOOOOO happy it's finally over. Those 25 page papers towards the end of my college carrer killed off the "fun factor" of ANY classes I had. |

I think that's one of the benefits of the computer science degree. I spent a ton of time in front of the computer but I was working on real development projects instead of APA MLA Refrences... yeuck. Seemed that way to me anyway. I hated my 100 level courses with all the damn papers on subjects I wasn't that interested in.
